Right up front - I WAS NOT compensated for the purchase of this product. Paid my $60 plus tax for it at a local Best Buy (so I could bring IN all the computers and accessories I thought I might use it for). Good product as others have commented. Expensive but worth it, if you want a high quality ultra-light case for carry only the essentials. I don't use it for MacBooks. Instead, it easily holds an HP Elitebook Revolve 810 (a tablet/laptop hybrid computer. It also *JUST* holds my 13.3 inch HP Elitebook. Either of these are thin enough themselves to leave use of the other interior storage space. In addition, I have a 6 year old 14 "square", (not "wide screen" laptop that also "just fits". However it's closer to an inch and a quarter thick so it blocks the use of the other interior space being itself that thick. The other interior space (other side of where you place the laptop, is big enough for a couple of standard magazines, 8x11 writing tablet, OR, maybe 50 pages of paper, max. I recycle a FedEx mailing envelop to keep important papers in good shape for laptop travels. I do wish the outer pockets expanded a bit more, but that would add to its bulk. That said, this is one of the very FEW cases this slim that can still hold my iphone 6S Plus IN it's Otterbox Defender case (top/down, not on its side) in either of the two outer pockets. The pockets are JUST deep enough to allow for this. Typically, if space permits I will use the interior "tablet" (not padded) pocket INSIDE the case (in the section opposite of where your mobile computer fits, for carrying my phone. I "reduced" my wallet down to using a simple "page" for business cards - a plastic sleeve that holds six business cards - so it holds my most important cards and folded cash bills (may 2 bills at most) in a space a little over a quarter inch thick. This easily fits in one of the outer pockets when folded, plus one outer pocket has two pen loops. Leaves enough room for chap stick, a pad of sticky notes and iphone charging cable. You COULD fit a typical 45 to 65 watt laptop charging cable in the outer pockets but expect them to bulge out. Likewise, I like to use a portable mouse but even the thinnest one I have clearly shows a "bulge" when placed in either of the outer pockets. Still functional but again diminishes the "ultra thin look" of this case.
Keep in mind, you have MAYBE a 1/2 inch of padding on the bottom of the case and more like 1/4 inch on the sides and top. NOT intended for heavy duty protection. I work in a public place with may people moving about and have nearly had my laptop knocked from my hands before. So, I wanted something I could carry easily indoors or across town, to keep my computer safe. This bag would NOT be my sole protection of said computer for out of town trips.
I use both the handles AND the shoulder strap. With the handles OUT, you have another two small "pockets" facing up that you can use. I tuck my keys in one side (about 5 keys on my key ring) so they are snug and not visible but far easier to reach than having to unzip anything.
The shoulder strap is incredibly high quality for this small of a bag. The padded part for your shoulder is probably 3 inches across and 8 or 9 inches long. Should fit large shoulders easily. One complaint and weakness noted previously has been the loops that the shoulder strap (removable by the way) fits into. The loops (or rings) ARE indeed made of plastic. They could become more brittle in the cold weather. I've not seen any sign of mine cracking, however, if you wanted to be sure, you could choose to replace the plastic ones with your own choice of one-inch metal ones - found easily at a hardware store. Again, only if you want to eliminate the one "non-metal" connection. The clips that attach to the rings on the shoulder strap itself are good, thick metal.
Where I work, using the shoulder strap means leaving your hands free - one for doors and the other for coffee!
I'm a male, 6 foot, and the fully extended strap can be worn comfortably cross-body. The zippers on the outside pocket are worth noting as you can fit them flush with the case itself - they tuck into the seams. This way, it takes a couple of extra seconds to pull them out but they won't get bent, caught, or broken off. Wins the case a couple of extra points for style too. I have received complements on the case itself.
In summary, It's thin, light and with the pockets available, can carry your essentials. I much prefer this option rather than a lesser "sleeve" that I'd have to place inside yet another bag or backpack just to avoid having to carry it like a football everywhere. The price is high but it's the best combination of features and quality that I've found. For my primary uses, (hallways and elevators indoors daily, and across town trips), it should last years.
PS - I completely sprayed the outside of mine, especially around the zippers, with a water-resistant treatment, to make the case far more water resistant, should I get caught in the rain with it.
