Was able to pick up most of them except for the main one I wanted to listen to, WGY-HD. I was unable to pick up the signal, even with the antenna fully extended and using the supplied wire antenna. Station drifted in and out. Same with some of the other channels. Some had great HD quality and some had static or fade. I think I will wait for better technology or for Sony to come out with one.

Good HD Radio

Posted by: HDradioBuyer from Portland, OR on 03/22/2013I've been listening to the Insignia tabletop HD radio for about a month now at work to a favorite station only available in this part of town on HD. A conventional desktop radio I tried had trouble pulling in many stations, but this HD radio has little trouble getting a clear signal. The sound quality is very high. It remembers the station I was on after being unplugged, which is nice. I use it with $20 Sony headphones, and I really like it. So far it has worked really well, and I recommend it. The only thing it could possibly use is a tone control or equalizer, as the sound is a little bass-heavy, although that may be the music and station. I wish HD radios and stations were more ubiquitous, they allow more stations on the air.

This radio has very poor reception.

The radio would only pick up one HD2 station and it could not even pick up up traditional stations constantly with full stereo reception. I tried moving the radio to different locations in my office, fully extending the antenna, connecting the secondary wire antenna, and the reception never got any better. I returned the radio the next day for a refund. I was VERY disappointed.

Good Little HD Radio

Posted by: HH30 from Baltimore on 02/22/2013It is a small unobtrusive radio,and by being small, listening to music through the speakers have old style transistor radio sound. Good for background music or talk radio, but not for serious music appreciation. Having said that, plug in ear buds or headphones and it is very good. I never hooked it up to a receiver, but I am sure if I did the sound would be wonderful. Since I use it with ear buds, I am very happy with the sound.
What is important to me is the excellent reception I get. I live fairly close to a state police radio relay tower, and ever since the tower went up I get horrible FM reception. This little radio (with the pig tail antenna attached) pulls in all local FM stations without missing a beat. I am in Baltimore county, and I can even get Washington DC stations sharp and clear without interference.
I am very happy with the performance, but I am concerned about the build quality. Although it is a solid and heavy unit for its size, the small buttons are not perfectly aligned and I hope they will not cause problems in the future.
