Used as replacement receiver for MRI sound system5

I purchased this receiver to replace the unit that went out on our MRI sound system. It's exactly what we needed. 2 channel, multiple inputs, average power output, and easy on the ol' wallet. Sound reproduction and frequency range is a little lacking, but for the application it's perfect. The headphones that we use are pneumatic, so it sounds like it's being played through a tin can regardless of the receiver. Overall, completely happy with the product. Thanks!2 out of 2 found this review helpful.

It really comes down to this:
1. 200 Watts stereo music program is probably about 65 watts clean per channel, which drives my custom built 12" 3-way floor speakers nicely.
2. Ease of use, your grandma can figure this thing out.
3. Records may not be popular, but unlike the cassettes of the 80's and 90's, the record never went away completely. This has Record, Aux1, Aux2 and CD. as a music snob, thats all you need.
The only drawback it has sitting in my garage at work (Replacing the shop stereo that burned out) Is the fact that the CD player could not be plugged in from the back and be switched on and off with the head unit. Other than that its everything a stereo should be.
Don't forget you can hook your phone or MP3 player up through a mini to RCA hookup and run it through AUX1 like mine does, just food for thought.1 out of 1 found this review helpful.

You get what you pay for1

This was around the most least expensive receiver price wise and now I am paying for it quality wise. Easy to install and set up but very hard to get consistent, static free, fm channels for longer than 20 seconds. I find myself constantly playing with the antenna.1 out of 2 found this review helpful.

I needed to replace an old Yamaha receiver and this receiver was compatible with my Yamaha turntable. FM stations come in strong and the sound out of my old speakers is great. For under $100.00 this is so far a great buy.3 out of 3 found this review helpful.

Good Inexpensive Receiver5

For the price, this a decent receiver. The amp is very clean and is powerful enough for my needs, and I can't detect any noise when there is no input. The FM sensitivity is excellent. AM is not so great, but I don't listen to AM anyway. The amp produces excellent sound from all my devices: tape deck,CD, turntable, etc. The amp drives my 30 year old BIC Venturi speakers really well, and since they are ultra efficient, (90dB/Watt) I get TREMENDOUS sound with the amp just loafing at 10 watts. I have only had the unit a few days but so far I am VERY pleased. I would definately recommend this unit to a friend.5 out of 5 found this review helpful.

Never worked1

I was trying to save money for a party I was having, the Best Buy store associate informed me that the Sony receiver would be a better quality. I didnt listen, my husband and I got home and the Insignia receiver never worked and the next day we ended up returing the Insignia receiver and purchasing the Sony receiver the store associate suggested in the first place. In other words, DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT!2 out of 13 found this review helpful.

Wouldn't leave standby mode (a strange design anyway - either you want it on or not). Best Buy wanted $60 just to look at it. Another large reputable tv-stereo repair wouldn't touch Insignia. Found a great little shop who looked it over for free and discovered that the 'standby transformer' was dead. Turns out that little piece is pretty rare and he can't get the part. So cheap part with a short life that's proprietary to Insignia that is manufactured only for Best Buy and the cost to repair exceeds its replacement value - so infuriatingly typical!8 out of 9 found this review helpful.
