    Decent for the price

Posted by: from Baltimore, MD on 04/02/2013We brought this TV at the recommendation of Sales Associate based on LED vs LCD. Picture quality thus far as been excellent. However, this TV is in the bedroom which is 18" * 12" & the TV sits directly in front of the bed w/ the volume on 100 still have a hard time hearing. Spoke to geek squad & their solution was to purchase a sound bar which I'm in the process of doing now. Additional disadvantage you will only have 2 HDMI ports, 1 component, & the standard coax hook ups. Lastly, TV is not able to connect to universal Comcast remote accept utilizing the master unlock code #u won't have full functionality# But for a bedroom it's decent definitely not for main entertainment.

Great TV for a great price

Posted by: from Cincinnati, OH on 03/31/2013I just bought this tv and I am very pleased with the purchase. Picture is great in HD and for a thin TV the sound is great, much louder than I thought it would be. Stil going to add a sound bar, but really just for watching movies. This TV is replacing an old "big screen" tv that was 52", but the difference if very minimal once it is set up. If you can find this on sale it is well worth it.

    Good TV for the price

Posted by: from Lancaster, Ohio on 03/30/2013This TV is good for the price. The sound and size are really good to have in a big room. Easy to set up and move around. The picture quality if you don't pay the extra for HD is not that good at times, depending on what you are watching. They almost force you to get the HD from your cable provider, which is not really something on the top of my list of have to have items.

Posted by: from Hickory, NC on 03/27/2013We purchased this TV for a den area... Super thin design and really easy to set up out of box. Lacks alot of inputs but on this TV we really did not need them. Picture is really good and for the price of this 46" LED tv we are really happy.

Posted by: from frederick, md on 03/26/2013Honestly, I was in the store and looking at all the higher priced TVs but really liked the 55 inch Insignia picture so I compromised and bought the 46 inch Insignia which was on sale. I thought I would get it home and have it for a week or so and then would be dissatisfied with the picture and would likely need to return it. Well, a couple of weeks went buy and I still had all the box intact, with all the packing supplies, and I realized at one point that I really like the picture. I finally decided to keep the TV as it has a great picture with crisp detail and high definition quality that in my opinion, matches the higher priced models. It has clear and easy to use menus and other features. It should be noted that I don't have any cable, just an oldish antennae on my deck and yet the signal is super! This is a great product! I did finally break down the box and get rid of it and am very happy with this purchase.

    Good tv

Posted by: from Kalamazoo, MI on 03/13/2013My husband and I bought this tv to replace a similar tv (Element). We originally went into the store to get this same tv but an LCD rather than LED as we were unaware of the LED version in stock and also on sale. We are happy with this tv but we wish there were more ports to it. The tv we replaced it with had many more ports (though half didn't work therefore the replacing) and even the LCD version had 3 HDMI ports whereas this one only has 2. Luckily we only need 2 HDMI ports at this time but it would have been nice if there were more in the case of possible future purchases (such as a game system to connect to the tv).

Can't Complain but still "Blue Shirt Approved"

Posted by: from Cedar Rapids IA on 03/12/2013I'm a part-time Best Buy Home Theater Employee and have been for over three years... I bought this for a TV on my main floor of my condo as a TV that will serve its purpose but I'm not intending it to be the main TV as I have a larger plasma screen in the basement. I'm usually all for Insignia products however this one has a few drawbacks. First off the common misconception is that LED is newer and will therefore have a better picture. However, excluding very high end LED TVs like Samsung's 8000 series which has localized dimming, most LED TVs suffer from a "halo" or "hot-spot" effect which causes the edges of the screen to be unevenly back-lit and results in corners and edges of the screen to appear noticably brighter than others. Especially during darker scenes. This TV suffers from it pretty badly, as mine has a distinct brighter area along the bottom, however these lighting diffeciencys will vary from TV to TV (even the same models). This aside, for its purpose which is a TV that can be viewed from the kitchen in the morning, watch Netflix on at night, etc. it's just fine. Does have a nice picture otherwise, and I love how thin the TV is as well as it's energy efficiency. I'm very picky on my TVs but negatives aside, for the price this TV gets my "blue shirt approval". Out of the box take picture mode off "energy-saving" and avoid "Vivid, Sports, Gaming, etc." I prefer the "standard" picture setting as well as setting the color to "warm" in the advanced settings. My Plasma was calibrated (well worth $249) however this TV is not worth the calibration. If you're looking for great picture quality and you're willing to go with a little thicker TV, the insignia LCD has a FAR superior picture for a fraction of the price. LED's advantages (in most cases) are simply energy efficiency and typically thinner than LCD TVs, but picture quality is not always better, and in some cases worse. Hope this helps make your decision easier! Other things to keep in mind: -Speakers are OK (but not great), this and any TV consider external sound. -This model is "60Hz" there is a "120Hz" model, however (some will disagree) 120/240hz blah blah.. is all marketing, I don't see any reduction in "motion-blur" and this feature gives TV Shows and Movies the appearance that they're recorded with a "home video camera" or too "true to life". This feature on most TVs can be adjusted or simply shut off. -Make sure you have an HD source (Bluray, Xbox, HD Cable / Satellite) -PLEASE at the very least buy a newer surge protector, for this and all your valuable electronics plugged into the outlet. -We're not on commission, we won't sell anything we don't believe in. But PLEASE consider Best Buys 2/4/5-year protection plan, for the price it's almost a no-brainer to save yourself the hassle of a defective TV (even if it's still covered by the manufacture warranty) Best Buy offers in home service (or just bring it back in) and more times than not, we simply replace it with a new one. I say this as a consumer because while I have had stuff fail in the past, Best Buys protection plans have never let me down. It's our ability to give you our guarantee outside of the 15 day return policy. Come see me at store 20 in Cedar Rapids for your next TV! -Adam R
