Stopped working quite quickly
1
Posted by: Severelydispleased from Austin, TX on 03/22/2013Within an hour of buying this product, I had tested the product to make sure it worked, and charged it for a short bit. After turning it on, all it does is produce a solid white screen with no reaction to any input. Hitting reset turns the white screen off momentarily and goes straight to the white screen again. I just wish I had bought it earlier in the day so I wouldn't have to wait a day to return it.

Just consider the $9 extended warranty as "Rent"
4
Posted by: Gashmore from Macon, Ga on 02/05/2013I have owned 5 of these radios. I LOVE THEM but the Geek Squad guys duck for cover when they see me. I learned to always buy the extended warranty when the first one went quiet at 3 months. Every thing else worked. Just no sound. It was like the mute button was pressed but the mute icon didn't indicate so. Thinking the problem was the earphone jack I performed a little surgery it to try and fix it but the surgery became an autopsy. The problem must be in the firmware or the uC because all the components seem OK. I bought another one with extended warranty. Now I just plan on going back to the store every 6 or 8 months and pay $9 for a new one.
They must cost next to nothing to make because many users have reported the same problem on the Insignia website but the problem continues and is very uniform in nature. Either that or BestBuy is taking a bath on their extended warranty.

No sound either
3
Posted by: CruisinLinda from on 12/05/2012I bought mine used through an Amazon.com merchant. I was delighted when I examined it. It was small, high-tech with a color LCD screen and great sound. I turned it off to charge, using an iPhone plug with a USB jack. When I went back to it less than an hour later, there was no sound. I changed stations and ear buds to no avail. The next day I got a pdf of the manual and learned the volume toggle is a mute button when pressed downward. I first thought this was the solution, but the screen icon showed mute was not on. From these comments I learn my radio is not unique. At least the flaw showed up early so I can return it.

Very Limited Life
1
Posted by: Workaholic31 from Denton, TX on 11/12/2012I love this radio it works awesome for a radio at work but only for about 3 month or just over 90days. Unfortunatelly I am about to exchange it for my 4th one in all cases it ceases to recognize the headphone jack, luckily I bought the extended warranty. Maybe by the time my warranty runs out they will have fixed the problem with these, as since I initially bought this I have seen SEVERAL others with the same problem..

Great sound, reception in a small package

Posted by: tg01 from Miami, FL on 09/29/2012This is a very useful product. It is small with excellent sound quality and reception. The battery life is limited. I would have preferred disposable batteries to the rechargeable battery.

Best HD Radio I have owned
5
Posted by: RMore from Highland, NY on 09/08/2012I have owned a couple of radios in the past, and they have not worked like this. I attend school and this works great in and out of school. The only thing i would recommend is that you let the battery run to zero to charge it because i haven't and it shortened the Battery Life. Great Radio all in all. I would buy it again.

Earphone jack failed after only 8 months
1
Posted by: CHConservative from Camp Hill, PA on 07/26/2012I had this radio at work and it did the job nicely for me for the first 7 months. I unplugged the earphones and replaced them from time to time, but not more than once a day on average. This morning, I put the earphone in and got nothing. Through the process of elimination, after testing the earphone on other devices, etc. I have concluded the jack contacts have failed.

Poor signal reception, Sporadic sound output
1
Posted by: Kennybee5 from Puyallup, WA on 07/15/2012My first issue was with reception. I had a short auxiliary cord in the car. plugged it in and only received a few HD channels and not the one I was particularly interested in. Since the headset./auxiliary output cord acts as the antenna, I tried a longer one. That worked better. But the cord had to be draped up around my rear view mirror to get adequate reception. This was not satisfactory. While using the unit for the first 10 minutes, it automatically re-booted, even clearing the pre-sets I had programmed. After some time the re-booting stopped for a while. But then the audio would quit. Even while the signal was strong. I would have to cycle the station for the audio to resume. Needless to say, I returned it to Best Buy the same day. No questions asked.

Great little radio, I use it daily at the gym

Posted by: davidr1049 from Mattapoisett, Ma. on 07/04/2012I really like this radio, the only draw back is that the battery does not last all that long. I have to recharge it daily after a 2 hour workout, the reception is good, the sound quality is great. If not for the issue with the battery I would give it 4 stars
