I was looking for a music solution for a small outdoor wedding. I had 2 driving criteria; 1) must somehow dock, or otherwise be compatible with my iPhone 4s, and 2) must have an internal power source. After reviewing quite a number of possibilities, I settled on the JBL.
Set up was very simple and intuitive. My iPhone 4s quickly made the bluetooth connection. I initiated the play list and was amazed by the sound that comes out of this little thing. I adjusted for max volume on the JBL, and use the volume control on my iPhone for finer control. I walked the speaker and the phone out to the back deck and placed them on the table. With volume at about 75%, I can hear the music quite well and at a reasonable level when standing at the far end of my backyard (approx. 100').
For those who have complained that the sound cuts in and out if they are moving about with the source, remember that bluetooth technology is nothing more than a line-of-sight radio signal. The source has to 'see' the speaker. This will not work well if there is a wall or a group of people between the source and the speaker. So long as you observe that limitation of the technology, it works GREAT!

I compared it to the Beats Pill and every review said that the sound quality on the Pill was horrible. After buying the JBL flip I can personally say it is the best. The sound quality is tremendous, and it is loud for a speaker this small. It isn't bass heavy, due to the size but your not going to find any portable speakers that are bass heavy. They are more for the sound. Now I have been reading people's review about how they are having trouble connecting the Flip to a second device. This is what you do, HOLD THE POWER BUTTON FOR THEEE SECONDS AND IT WILL START BLINKING RED AND BLUE, THAT WILL RESET THE DEVICE AND IT WILL ALLOW YOU TO PAIR WITH MULTIPLE DEVICES. I put it in caps so people can read it lol. But overall this is hands down the best portable device, it is small, compact, sound quality is the best, and it is priced reasonable (compared to the $200 Beats Pill that isn't so great) so if your looking for a portable speaker to take with you say the river, something to to have in your room, or while you shower, look no more you have found the best one. JBL FLIP FTW! Lol

The bass is great and it still sounds great when the volume is all the way up. It's so convenient, you can literally take it anywhere. It comes with a protective neoprene case. My only complaint is that the battery life is a little short. I wish it would give a warning when it was getting low instead of just dying. Regardless of the battery life, I totally recommend it! My friends love it and 2 have bought their own after hearing mine.

So basically I bought tis device so I would not have to listen to the crummy sound from her phone. What a difference this product makes. It's an immediate upgrade on a scale of 1 to 10 from 1 to about a 7. I liked the unit so much I bought one for myself the next day. I have a full home theater in one room and a soundbar/subwoofer combo in another room so this is an inexpensive backup/portable system which I can play in the bathroom or take on the road. It fits the bill perfectly. The only downside is that the unit lacks remote control, but I can control the volume from my phone or iPad so no real biggie.

Great speaker for the price and size!

I pondered buying the Bose Soundlink, but since I will be traveling and living in a barracks type room, I didn't want to spent that type of dough. I went to my local Best Buy and did an extensive listening test to all of the portable speakers they had on the shelf. The Bose sounded the best of course, but the Flip was a close second.
I was looking for a combination of portability and sound quality, and that is where the JBL stands out. It's about 2-3 inches taller than a standard soda can, but the diameter is about the same. It came with a neoprene type case for storage, which will give it decent cushioning and protection in my laptop backpack. I wish there was some type of side pouch for the power cord, but that's a small complaint. Plus a cord for a 3.5 mm aux device would be nice.
The sound quality is great when you consider the size and the price point. I paid about $90 when Best Buy price matched the online price. The sound is great for mids and highs, but the lower end is a little light for my tastes, but that's to be expected for a small speaker. I also like the fact that it can be used as a speakerphone, unlike the $300 Bose. Overall I am very happy with it and will update on the durability of the product over time.

Impressed with the sound quality

- iPad (3rd generation)
- iPod Touch (3rd generation)
- Photon (Motorola Smartphone)
I first used it at my own birthday party a few days ago and my guests were confused: looking for a big device playing the loud sound of the music I had, until they finally decided to ask me if I had built in speakers on my wall or something of that sort, they were surprised when I pointed at the lightweight small cylindrical device wired to nothing.
I also like very much the ability this device has to connect to mini-stereo plugs (for devices not supporting Bluetooth)

It's pretty great until you come to the features. It has it's own independent volume control, however for when you are playing music their are no skip, play/pause button. If I had those features on this, it would make it the best. Still great over all sound experience.

NEVER have I had a problem pairing with the iPhone or any other cell phone, which happens when people stop and ask me questions about the great sound and where the heck is it coming from! Look, bottom line; I have tried some of the Flip's competition; NONE measured up, and as one other reviewer stated, it is a durable device.

I looked at many in the store from jawbone which is same price n a little smaller bout sounds horrible. i even looked at the beats and thought they gotta be good cuz of the beats headphones i bought me and my son. And they cost $200. But this speaker is the best sounds real loud and clear anddd has good bass. easy to use with wireless or cord your choice. has a nice lil case to protect it. And just clearly the best speaker by far nice and small. I take it in the shower and basement when i exercise. but my favorite is watching movies on my labtop or ipad and have this little speaker like if its a stereo system.

Volume level is great. Other speakers would not go loud at all and were not very useful. Wish the battery life could be longer and one feature offered by another device was to be able to switch between two devices easily. My wife and I both use it and we have to turn Bluetooth off on one and then power off and power back on the speaker to switch to the other phone. Highly recommend this speaker.
