Great all around speaker

Posted by: kanehi from Honolulu, HI on 05/28/2013I saw the Solemate on sale at BB for $129 online and went to the store and tested it. I was looking for a small portable bluetooth speaker for my upcoming camping trip. On the shelf there was the Jabra Solemate, Bose and Jawbox. I listened to the Jawbox and there was hardly any bass and the Bose demo wasn't working. The Jawbox and the Bose are much larger than the Solemate and heavier so they were eliminated. When I listened to the Solemate, the sound blew me away! Bass was deep for a small speaker. Once home the bluetooth connection was a no brainer. A voice will tell you to connect your device and will let you know when you're connected. It will tell you the charged condition when you press the middle button. It has an included speaker wire tucked underneath if you don't want to use bluetooth. The rubber base is a good feature isolating the speaker when placed on a desk or table and it prevents it from sliding around. I suggest that when you paired your device you should increase the volume of your device then adjust the volume of the speaker. Some devices have built-in equalizers and I highly recommend using them to adjust the frequencies specially the high tones. I also recommend placing the Solemate in front of a solid backdrop, it seems to enhance the volume. Other features are it charges quickly and the battery lasts a long time but if you have it real loud the battery life decreases a bit. The included sachet helps protect it from sand and light rain. The built quality is exceptional and feels solid. I actually bought the black version for my son for his birthday and he loves it. My laptop's speaker isn't that loud but the Solemate made watching movies more exciting. This will also come in handy driving thru the desert without radio signals.

Posted by: broadstreetphillies from Haddonfield, N.J. on 01/21/2013I bought the HMDX JAM for 40 bucks.I wanted something that was stereo,so I bought the solemate after reading the reviews and I like the way it looks. bluetooth hook up was eazy for my phone (samsung s 3) but the sound is not very loud at all. The sound on the JAM is much louder,to loud on high.So I will be returning this.I will be looking for something better.
