I have had no problems using this cable with an older, first generation, jailbroken iPhone connected to a Kenwood DDX719 head unit. The 4 out of 5 star rating is because the cable itself is very big and bulky. Fortunately, the DDX719 allows for connection on the rear of the unit. The cable runs from head unit to glove box and is not exposed.
If I had to have this cable connected in the front (as many head units require) I would not be happy about it.0 out of 1 found this review helpful.

Terribly designed cord2

I was at first confused why I couldn't just use a standard iPod cord to connect the head unit to my iPhone. Then I realized that Kenwood designed the unit only to work with their cord. For some reason they used a dual plug setup that transmits audio/video on one plug and display on the USB portion. So I was a little unhappy even before I spent the $30 on the Kenwood specific cord.
After opening the packaging, I quickly realized that the video portion with the headphone jack style plug was twice as long as the USB portion, but they were fused together. So rather than being able to neatly tuck the cord out of sight, I must constantly fight a mess of wires cluttering up the interior of my vehicle. In my particular application, it blocks me from being able to adjust my temperature controls. The cord functions properly, but is an enormous pain to have inside my vehicle.
This could all have been avoided if Kenwood had simply put a rear connection for the iPod cord in the DDX418 rather than solely a front USB connection. However, this review is not for the head unit.15 out of 24 found this review helpful.
