Good Amp for Two 12" Alpine Type R

Posted by: justgivingareview from NY on 08/23/2012I'm always picky on buying amps. So many different opinions on what you should use. If you over powering or under powering your subs. It gives me headaches.
What i know is i had a alpine mrp-m1000 and it was awesome for my two 12" type r but didn't fit where i wanted it. The only thing up on the amp was the gain at 0.5 and it was amazing.
But this kicker fits anywhere. its small and has a lot of power. Its half the side of the alpine 1000. I have the gain at max, everything else on the amp is on 0. My head unit sub volume to max. Just saying this for people to get ideas on how i have it hook up. But this amp hits loud and clean. Its not overpowering the subs but its hitting the sweet spot on the subs.
If you buy this amp and it cuts out, its because you need a capacitor. It happen to me, even with the alpine amp too. Install the capacitor and you will be fine.
Bass knob is awesome, you have control of the bass. If you buy a expensive amp and it does not come with a bass knob. I think its a waste of money. Every song have different bass and you can control it with the bass knob. Reason why i have the gain at max.
long review but it will help someone, hopefully. Just to let people know i have a coupe. Also protection plan for the amp. Bestbuy is the best.
Another recommendation is the kicker dx 1000.1 awesome amp too.

Nothing Compares to Kicker Amps

Posted by: jwill90 from NC on 07/05/2012I've owned Kicker audio equipment including door speakers, sub woofers, and amplifiers. Out of all three categories, their bread and butter should come from their amps. Their amps have never let me down. Their power ratings are underrated and unsurpassed. I remember shopping for amps, and a salesman showed me one speaker but played it through different amps at the same rating. Kicker had the fullest sound out of all competitors. Not only did it push a lot power, but the bass was clean. I do not know if they still do this, but mine came with a bass knob which I can control from the front of my car. It is one of the best features. If you do not choose kicker speakers, then you MUST at least choose a Kicker amp. Whatever rating they say their amps push, go ahead and add about 10 - 15% percent and thats what it really can pump.
