I cant seem to get it to work with an older HP running Vista, but it could be driver issues. Other than that I got it on sale so it was a great buy, and I haven't come across playback issues yet, so that is good.

Plugged in my laptop started working right away

Posted by: John700 from Zanesville, Oh. on 10/15/2012It plugged in and was seen by Win. 7 right away. played DVD's, Blue Ray and Blue Ray 3D with no problem. It does take a lot of system resources. Works best with at least a duo core processor of at least 2.15 gh or more. Comes with software for playing videos but it works well with my own internal software like VLC media player. I also plugged it into my LG smart TV. and it worked fine.

A decent BluRay/DVD Player

Posted by: CaliGuyAS from Walnut Creek, Ca. on 10/15/2012We found this item as a way to watch all of our Blu Rays on our laptops without having to lug around a separate player. The unit works well and the picture and sound were very steady and solid.
Maybe it's the curse of Sony and their lack of supporting products like Blu Ray's or something, but we had a hard time setting this up on our Window's 7 laptop. Had to download a number of patches and update from Microsoft to read the discs. The manufacturer (LG) was not very helpful as they redirected us to both Microsoft and Sony to get support. I finally figured out the problem on a MS forum and now our unit works. We had trouble getting it do the writing to discs so we just use it to read discs.
