LG - Spectrum 2 4G Mobile Phone - Black (Verizon Wireless) (1 out of 1)

Posted by: from Buffalo, NY on 11/14/2012After having the phone for only two days I don't have a comprehensive review but since there was nothing here for me to make my decision on I'll give you my initial impressions. Pros: The screen/display is fantastic, on par with any retina or HD display. Haven't played with the camera too much so I can't comment on that but it's a phone camera so probably not expecting professional grade photos with it. Screen is responsive and works properly, no issues here. Removable battery. The back is not that shiny, slippery plastic, but has a nice texture and doesn't seem to get cold in the weather here. Great Call/Sound quality. Music sounds better than my old phone when played on same headphones, so I don't know if I'm just excited or it really sounds better but music seems to be better out of this phone than my last (Samsung Galaxy S1) which was pretty outdated. Cons: Battery seems average. I've only had it for 2 days so I can't say but I got battery down to about 13% before fully charging overnight. At 7AM the phone was taken off the charger and was not used or looked at until 9 AM at which point 10% of the battery had drained. By my calculations that would make for 20 hours of standby time which seems rather low. After full use throughout the day streaming music and playing around it lasted until about 3:30pm before it hit 15% which I suppose isn't terrible, but it isn't overly impressive either. This is not really any concern to me as I keep it plugged into my usb for car stereo and have chargers just about everywhere at home and the office if needed, but if you are always on the go and don't have access to a charger this may be an issue. Not small. About as big as they come before it's no longer called a phone. It would be nice to know if it will be upgraded to Jelly Bean from the pre-loaded Ice Cream Sandwich. (I've never used the new android Jelly Bean so I can't really compare but it would be nice to have the opportunity.) Unknown: Wireless charging, NFC, LGTap+ Overall:  At first I wasn't sure that I cared for the bottom buttons there and thought they could use it to make the screen longer or the phone shorter. But they are growing on me and make navigating to my settings/past apps/home a breeze. The build quality of the phone isn't quite that of the Razr or Iphone designs but the back is replaceable and battery is removable so that is nice. Overall seems pretty sturdy. Great phone, strong competition for all high-end Verizon devices. Can't beat the $99.99 w/ contract price for a new phone that has arguably a better display than anything out there. Still a bit worried that LG won't upgrade to Jelly Bean.
