One Amazing Device
5
Posted by: from Evansville, IN on 02/10/2012I always wanted one of those phones that everyone would be jealous of. A few months ago I was looking online at some phones that I might buy. I stumbled upon the LG Thrill and was instantly in love. With its 4G speeds and two 5-megapixel cameras, the LG Thrill is more than you can ask for. It plays and records 3D videos and captures 3D pictures as well. It’s nearly a computer in your hand, not to mention the 4.3inch stereoscopic 3D screen. The LG Thrill is super fast, has unlimited features, and accessories like no other. Underneath all of its greatness a flaw does exist. The LG Thrill features a dual-core processor, 512 MB of Ram, and 8GB of ROM. The 4G speed gives downloading a new name; Surfing the web is unreal. I’ve seen and tested many phones and not a single one is even comparable to the speed of the LG Thrill. With super fast downloads and instant video stream it lacks a bad name. The Android market is full of entertaining apps. From games to educational tools such as calculators, and Kindle mobile so you can have some of the required college textbooks in the palm of your hand. There is even a WIFI tethering app that turns your android device into a mobile hotspot. A process exists called “rooting.” It just enables you to access non-market apps. You must root in order to make the device a hotspot. That’s only a fraction of the features that the LG Thrill holds inside. Not only inside the phone, but outside as well are accessories that you could dream of. The HDMI outlet lets me play videos on my phone through the TV. The Ballistic Defender case has saved me a thousand times. It has super padded corners, which are the most vulnerable spots on the phone. It has a rubber inside that fits the phone snug and a hard plastic outer that secures it from receiving any damage. These case range in many different colors. Another accessory is the screen protector that makes the 4.3inch screen impossible to scratch. Although the phone is pretty much amazing, it does have imperfections. One flaw is that the backlights of the buttons at the bottom of the screen shuts off to quick and are hard to locate in the dark. Another might be the short-term battery loss depending on usage of the phone. Some battery life can only last up to 4 hours. I charge my phone at least three times a day. From a little research I found that there is a speed deduction called a brick, when this occurs it slows the operating system way down and could be very annoying. If my phone would start to slow down I would be very upset. So if one day you are out looking at phones. Pick up the LG Thrill. Be amazed by the super fast speeds. Check out the screen clarity and play with all its features. You never know it just might be the phone for you.

OK but doesn't touch HTC

Posted by: from Acushnet, MA on 01/16/2012This phone is OK. The 3D is not that good, if you do not view the screen dead on, it looks distorted. The camera takes a while to initialize and the quality of the pictures are at best average. Battery life is on par for an Android based phone with dual processors. The speaker on this phone is great. Calls over the speaker are loud and clear. When not on speaker, calls are also loud and clear. I have 4G service here, but it is not LTE. This phone isn't 4G LTE anyway, but on average speeds on this phone are acceptable. The HDMI out is not to bad either. Again if the camera was better, it might be on par to be one of the best. Overall it is not to bad, especially considering I got this phone free. I think I will stick with HTC next time. This is my first and last LG phone.

good, but........

Posted by: from St. Paul, MN on 01/07/2012The phone in general is ok , dual core system, etc... poor user interface tho. the 3d is kind of a gimmick. My complaint is that the box/brochure says the unit is upgradable from the android 2.2 operating system to the 2.3 os (gingerbread) but in actuality it is not. ATT does not have this release, Bestbuy does not have this release, and LG HAS the release but has found that it does disables completly the 3D Camera And 3D functions. SSSOOOO alittle missleading in the fact that this phone IS NOT UPGRADABLE at all. Android has phones out there running 3.0 already and this cant be upgraded even 1 level? Bad Product.. look elsewhwere.

Cool Phone features for great price

Posted by: from Mountain Home, ID on 12/22/2011I was comparing the Thrill to the Galaxy S2 and Atrix 2 to get away from my iPhone 4. The body of the Atrix turned me away but seemed like a good phone. The Galaxy was way too thin for me. I felt like I was going to break it, and every display model I saw w/ a security cord to the back had ripped the backing off the phone (plastic). The weight of the Thrill is great for me. It's hard to believe people complain about the weight of the thrill; I feel like I'm actually holding a phone. I would've preffered the smoothness and brightness of the Galaxy over the Thrill's (which was still smooth and bright#, but I think what won me over was the 3D gimmick and body style. I don't feel like I'm going to break this one on one drop and the screen size is so much better than the iPhone. I wish the battery was more impressive, but slap an extended battery on it and you should be good to go #I'm waiting on my new battery in the mail). Getting it as a free upgrade helped over having to pay out the wazoo for the Galaxy.

Posted by: from on 09/28/2011This phone is very laggy for having a dual core processor. LG has given it very poor memory and processor management. Even with no apps running over 50% of the ram is used up. The 3d is a gimmick and is stressful on the eyes. The battery lasts about an 2 hours for web browsing on full brightness with no other Alps running. Bought to replace my Motorola Attic b/c is was making bad calls, but will be selling the thrill instead. Atrocious UI.

Posted by: from on 09/13/2011The design of this phone is pretty cool, and is super fast, and the 3D is a cool feature... however, the battery life SUCKS! MAYBE a couple hours of hard use. But an otherwise great competitive handset our there.

Awsome Phone & Price

Posted by: from Tulsa, OK on 09/12/2011Bought it right off the truck. Litteraly, the guys at my Best Buy had to go find it on the truck. Went in to buy an iPhone 4. The sales rep says before you do that let me find one of these new phones we just got and compare it. Its less money and faster. So he went and found one. We put an Atrix, iPhone 4 and the Thrill all next to each other and did an informal head to head. So the Thrill is as smooth and responsive as an iPhone 4. Bigger screen and much faster at web page, e-mail and Facebook. Those are the apps I use so those are the ones that mattered to me. I also really wanted the fastest processor that I could purchase because I have been burned on upgrades bringing the hardware to screaching halt. The Thrill does not disappoint. Response is butte smooth, quick, and big screen. Good bye iPhone.

best phone out
5
Posted by: from on 09/09/2011This is by far the best phone out aside from at&t failure at keeping the promise they made to release all 2011 phones with android 2.3. The phone may have a bit less ram than other (512 MB vs 1gb) but its dual channal ram thus making the device much faster. On quadrant it scored higher than compared devices that were even over clocked (my friends evo3d at 1.8 ghz score lower than the thrill stock out of the box) it performs exceptionally well in game play and the 2d features of the phone are super smooth. No lag. No delays everything is darn near instant. I will recommend this phone to all looking for a top notch device at a reasonable cost.
