Better sound quality than Beats for a better price
    5
Posted by: from Allentown, PA on 04/27/2013I went to Best Buy to take a listen to headphones I was looking at for myself (B&W P5), and my son said he wanted new headphones for his birthday. He was about to turn 12, and he received a pair of inexpensive bluetooth headphones for Christmas from his grandmother, so I knew this could only mean one thing - he wanted cooler headphones. His bus is full of kids who perpetually have their Beats by Dre around their necks, as much as for fashion reasons as actually listening to their iPods. So we looked at the Beats Solo HD that they all seem to have, and neither of us was particularly impressed. Next were the Beats Studios, which were better, but I wasn't prepared to spend $300 on headphones for a 12 year old. Not sure why $200 was acceptable, but I digress. So we looked at Sony's, Soul by Ludacris SL300 (which I bought for myself, but that's another review) and a few others. As we were leaving, we saw the Monster DNA display, and I thought they looked pretty cool. Remembering that Beats were engineered by Monster originally, I decided to take a listen. I was actually shocked by how much louder yet clearer the sound was compared to the Beats Solos. My son then tried them on, and he was equally impressed. He came across a pair that were "Digital Camo" colored, and he was sold. They were $179 at that time, so I considered them a deal compared to the $199 Solos. I think we definitely made the correct choice. Monster took what they learned from engineering the Beats and improved on it in every way. They headphones sound better, they're built better and they don't look cheap like the Solos (IMO). They come in a nice box with a carrying back with a carabiner, two cables (one with iPod controls and a right angle jack connector, one without) and a cloth to clean them. So if you're in the market for headphones and you're not buying them just for social status, I highly recommend the DNAs. Monster has made a superior product to Beats in every way, and hopefully will gain good market traction with these. I'm personally planning on buying a pair of Monster Inspiration headphones (to supplement the SL300s I bought for myself because the deal was so good) because they may be the best I've listened too under $500. Monster's reputation for audio equipment is definitely validated with their headphone line.

Posted by: from Harrisburg, PA on 04/26/2013These are much better than beats. If you like Aerosmith, Led Zeplin, Mettallica and country music you will love these. You do get that mega bass like you have with beats. The sound quality is even better than bose. My dad even thinks so. I like the pair I got because they are camo and they even support veteran's which is GREAT! i got mine on sale.

    Awesome for college

Posted by: from on 04/26/2013I love these headphones. I personally have the darker blue ones. I use them daily when I do homework, when I'm traveling, etc. They block out sound great and they sound awesome. I hate having to use other headphones because none sound as great as these do! And I also love that other people can plug into my headphones and listen to the same thing. They're durable, as they get shoved in my backpack a lot between the library, classes, and my dorm room. I was really uneasy buying an expensive pair of headphones, but I am so pleased with my purchase! I absolutely love these. The only downside to them is that they can start to become uncomfortable on your ears after a couple hours of wearing, but the pros greatly outweigh that one con. Highly recommend!

Posted by: from Scottsdale, AZ on 04/19/2013I absolutely love these headphones! I use them for hours each day, both in the gym and for calls. I'm happy to say that I feel for the price I received a product well worth it! I'd recommend these to anyone who's serious about music! The bass isn't too strong, but clarity is top notch!

    Excellent product

Posted by: from Dallas on 03/22/2013Compared with the current lineup of Beats this product endures the normal use of a heavy traveler like me. The Sound is great. I had three pairs of Beats and they all broke. This I've twisted and function like just out of the box. Monster sound does not get any better than this. Design is great also. Easier to carry on the neck (mine size 22).

Posted by: from NJ on 01/05/2013I had been shopping for headphones for almost a year, until I tried these. I was impressed with the lightweight and sleek design, but even more impressed by the sound quality and comfort. An added bonus for the camo version is a donation is made to the Hire A Vet program.

    Great Pair of Headphones
    5
Posted by: from Buffalo, NY on 12/31/2012I listen to a wide variety of music consisting mostly of blues, rock, metal, and some rap. Listening to Tab Benoit or System of a Down, these headphones sound great, the guitar is very clear, the bass lines and drums are very clear in the background, and the vocals are fantastic. Rap like Lil Wayne sounds great but when songs come on with more bass than average, i.e. Knock em Down Music by E-40, they distort slightly. I would highly recommend these headphones for anyone who wants to listen to anything but rap or dubstep. If you are someone who listens to these genres or ones like it often I would say get a pair of Beats instead. With these headphones, they feel a little plastic-like and cheap so they don't feel durable. Whereas, with Beats they are hard plastic or, with the higher models, are metal so they may turn out to be more durable. All in all, these are great headphones for the music lover and for someone who's looking to have some heads turn.

Great sound quality and a great cause

Posted by: from Houston, Tx on 12/13/2012These headphones are awesome! Some people pay more for lesser quality and I feel sorry. These are a bit more pricey than the regular DNA but knowing my extra money is going to the "hire a veteran" foundation vs. "the man" is comforting. These are worth every penny i spent. They sound absolutely amazing and I get a lot of attention wearing them.
