OK, so after a LOT of research, I bought this unit in January of 2011. I bought it because of screen size and for the fact it had bluetooth to connect to Iphone. I use it in an '05 Mercury Mountaineer.
I am very familiar with GPS and use one in all cars and in small plane I fly. (BTW, all of those are Garmin... that should have been a clue)
This unit tells location fine. It does good traffic alert and lane changes.
So what's wrong?
1) Bluetooth to phone is off and on. and when it is connected, the microphone/speaker is on the BACK of the unit right next to windshield so your phone to other person is totally unintelligible.
2) the touchscreen is VERY SLOW. Buttons would have been better because you really have to push these icons. And then it still takes 3-4 pushes.
3) see above. typing in an address will make you late for your appt.
4) Magellan has a PC interface called Content Manager. If you have a REAL computer (i.e. MAC) you have to download a software upgrade to your SD card ON A WINDOWS PC, shove it in unit and then it will talk to your Mac. Wow!
5) For a lot less money, you can get a Garmin and it talks to your computer AND has lifetime maps.2 out of 8 found this review helpful.

It will keep you from getting lost. The lane assist is good. Just as a GPS this is a great product. However, it claims to come with bells and whistles but those are the things you can count on. But for the price, you can't really complain that much. It's easy to use straight out of the box. One of the most annoying features is that the blu tooth only seems to work sporadically. It will switch from phone handset to blu tooth at will. It may also frustrate you on putting in the locations with the spelling assist guessing what you do not want.3 out of 3 found this review helpful.

Roadmate 30651

It’s been 1 yr. and ½ since I purchased the product and it no longer works! The display is stuck on the USB to Computer screen, meaning I need to hook it up to the computer for an update either map or firmware. So I downloaded Magellan content manager (to 3 different computers) and it will not recognize my device and will not even let me sign into my account to check for map updates. I registered the product the day I purchased it and I have updated it in the past. After about 2 weeks of dealing with customer service through emails they tell me the product is no longer covered under the warranty, so next day when I log into my Magellan account my registered product is no longer there, I guess they felt the need to delete my account when the problem could not be resolved. I have purchased a meridian platinum and mapsend software in the past in addition to the roadmate 3065. I find it disturbing that the platinum still works after 8 years and the newer roadmate no longer works after a year and a half. I would seek a different brand due to Magellan’s lack of dependability and customer support issues5 out of 5 found this review helpful.

Sluggish Performance, Slim Coverage1

I bought this as a potential replacement for a Garmin GPS. I though that the lifetime traffic feature and the AAA TourBook would make up for the lesser reputation of a Magellan. Boy, was I ever wrong! I've only used it for two days and I dislike it very much. Here's the pro's and con's:
Pro's
-big screen, very bright, fairly open viewing area
-rings a bell when you are getting close to your turn, in addition to the text to speech feature
-text to speech alerts are very thorough
-seems to recalculate quickly and quietly if you don't follow the planned route
-starts up quickly, unlike my former Garmin
-shows whether you are in an area where there is traffic coverage
Con's
-ridiculously sluggish to move from screen to screen when setting up favorites, changing settings or choosing your route, etc.
-power cable is extremely short - it barely reaches from my AC outlet to my dashboard, and I do NOT drive a large vehicle (Kia Optima)
-mount is incredibly unstable - it will not 'stick' to my windshield at all, nor will it stay on the Rockfish universal dash mount that I purchased for it
-has a nasty habit of re-booting after a few minutes of operation; I've used this GPS unit 5 times in the last 2.25 days, and it's re-booted during 3 of those trips
-doesn't save 'favorites' for 'brand-name' locations (such as Target or McDonald's) by exact location, but instead pulls up a list of these places that are near where you are. Cute, might be nice when traveling, but not what I was hoping for
-worst of all, the traffic alert coverage in the Nashville area doesn't even extend to all of the city of Nashville, never mind the suburbs!
I'll be taking this back to BB and purchasing another Garmin.3 out of 6 found this review helpful.

Major Failure1

I purchased this unit specifically for its bluetooth. In less than two weeks, it froze and failed on me. I returned it to Best Buy, got another, and have had several problems with it ever since. I have bluetooth connection problems. It freezes up.
When it works, it works great. It just doesn't necessarily work often.6 out of 7 found this review helpful.

I received this unit for christmas. Out of the box, it worked for about 10 minutes for some of the features, but woudl NEVer find my current location. then in the car when i tried to load contacts the unit froze and woudl never unfreeze. I tried emailing with support but it takes them about 24 - 48 hours to respond, it is ridiculous.
i returned the unit and got a new one on 12/27 and it worked for 2 1/2 days and then it started freezing as well. i coul dnever get past the home screen where it has the Warning and the green check box.
This UNIT IS HORRIBLE...AND THIS WAS NOT OF THE QUALITY THAT SHOULD BE SOLD.4 out of 4 found this review helpful.

I really never got to ues this since it never got a fix on any satellites nor updated its position.
On the plus side, it has a large screen with lots of features, most of which I never got to use.
I ended up taking it back to best buy for a full refund and purchasing a Garmin from Sears.2 out of 2 found this review helpful.
