Magnum, P.I.: Deja Vu, Part 1
Filmed on location, this first episode of Magnum, P.I.'s two-part Season Six opener (originally telecast in a single two-hour timeslot) finds Magnum (Tom Selleck) and Higgins (John Hillerman) journeying to London at the behest of their boss, novelist Robin Masters. As Higgins explains the duties of managing Masters' new British estate to caretaker Ian MacKerras (Peter Davison), Magnum looks an old war buddy, Geoffrey St. Clair. The detective has been plagued of late by eerie premonitiions suggesting that Geoffrey has met with disaster--and sure enough, no sooner has he arrived than Magnum is informed that Geoffrey has died. Against his better judgement, our hero finds himself falling in love with his unfortunate friend's widow Penelope (Francesca Annis). Meanwhile, Higgins braces himself for a visit with his father, whom he hasn't seen nor spoken to in over thirty years. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

    Magnum, P.I.: The Kona Winds
Magnum (Tom Selleck) rescues a woman named Lauren Henderson (Cynthia Sikes) from drowning herself. Lauren claims that she has witnessed a murder committed by her husband Sam (Frank Converse), a powerful industrialist. As Magnum finds himself falling in love with the unfortunate woman, he is slowly but surely drawn into a sinister conspiracy. What's really going on here--and how does Sam's secretary Cindy (Kit McDonough) have to do with all the intrigue? ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

    Magnum, P.I.: Old Acquaintance
Magnum (Tom Selleck) and T.C. (Roger E. Mosley) are reunited with their high school classmate Goldie Morris (Lee Purcell), who is still the same zany, impulsive political activist she'd been back in the good old days when she was Magnum's tutor. Goldie wants the detective to help her locate a kidnapped dolphin, which has been outfitted with explosives. At the same time, Magnum is kept busy protecting a visiting dignitary, third-world despot President Kole (Brock Peters). Care to place bets over how quickly Magnum discerns a link between Goldie, the dolphin and the President. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

    Magnum, P.I.: Blood and Honor
Called back to active Naval service by Admiral Hawkes (Paul Burke), Magnum (Tom Selleck) is handed the delicate task of pinpointing and plugging a security leak at a Navy base where a top-secret nuclear submarine is docked. The mission proves to be a painful one when it appears that the source of the leak is the fiancee (Simone Griffeth) of Hawkes' own son Andy (Jeff Yagher)--and things go from bad to worse when circumstantial evidence suggests that Andy himself is the guilty one. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

    Magnum, P.I.: Paniolo
Magnum (Tom Selleck) pays a visit to the Big Island, where the cattle ranch run by teenager Kenny Harbison (Michael Sharrett) is being plundered by rustlers. Investigating, Magnum soon realizes that Kenny's claims of affluence are highly exaggerated, and that the ranch may be on its last legs. Once he has absorbed this bit of news, the detective must determine which of two supsects is stealing the cattle: The estate's head ranch hand, or a neighboring rancher who happens to be an old friend of Robin Masters. Appropriately enough, this "Hawaiian western" spotlights the talents of two former TV cowboys, Doug McClure (The Virginian) and Henry Darrow (The High Chaparral). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

    Magnum, P.I.: Round and Around
Ron Pennington (played by Magnum, P.I.'s stunt coordinator Robert L. Minor), an old basketball-player friend of T.C. (Roger E. Mosley), is murdered during a robbery. It turns out that Ron's estranged son Ronny (Larry B. Scott) was acquainted with the killers--and that the supposedly random robbery was tied in with a large-scale drug operation. Magnum (Tom Selleck) must act quickly to solve the murder and save Ronny from himself, if for no other reason than to bring peace of mind to the boy's anguished mother Sheila (Sheila Frazer). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

    Magnum, P.I.: Going Home
After thirteen years away from home, Magnum (Tom Selleck) returns to Tidewater, Virginia, to attend the funeral of his beloved grandfather. The occasion serves to reopen several old wounds, culminating with Magnum angrily accusing his stepfather Frank (David Huddleston), whom he has always resented, of stealing a precious family heirloom--namely, a letter from Abraham Lincoln. Musical comedy star Gwen Verdon makes her first series appearance as Magnum's mother Katherine; and watch for Tom Selleck's real father Robert Selleck Sr. as "Grandpa Everett" in a brief home-movie sequence. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Magnum, P.I.: The Treasure of Kalaniopu'u
To publicize his latest novel, Robin Masters stages a million-dollar treasure hunt, with the clues adroitly hidden with the pages of his book. Unfortunately, one of the contestants doesn't see the need to play fair, and before the day is over Magnum (Tom Selleck) and the other treasure-hunters (among them several of the series' regulars) are being held at gunpoint on the edge of a steep cliff. In fact, the episode begins with this perilous situation, then works itself backward in the form of tantalizing flashbacks. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

    Magnum, P.I.: Rapture
While scuba-diving in the Kahuku lagoon, Magnum (Tom Selleck) thinks that he sees a boy named Kel'il Parker (Kahale Ahina) swimming alongside him. Trouble is, Kel'il was killed five years before in a boating accident. Despite his friends' efforts to convince him that he was hallucinating, Magnum is determined to prove that he saw exactly what he saw--and in so doing, to expunge the guilt of Kel'il's mother (Ilima Parker), who is convinced that she was responsible for the boy's death. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

    Magnum, P.I.: The Hotel Dick
Anxious to become an "official" detective rather than a mere private eye, Magnum hires on as security chief at the ritzy Hawaiian Gardens Hotel. His first assignment--which may also turn out to be his last--is to prevent a notorious cat burglar from plying his trade at an international convention of jewelry designers. Magnum finds his efforts complicated by a pair of very sexy call girls who are marching to the tune of their own drummers. Candy Clark and Phyllis Davis make their first series appearances as flashy good-time girls Leslie and Cleo. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

    Magnum, P.I.: Photo Play
Magnum (Tom Selleck) literally runs into pushy female photographer Shelly Faraday (Cassie Yates) when she crashes into his car while being pursued by hoodlums. It turns out that while on assignment in France, Shelly had accidentally snapped a photo of a notorious embezzler who is supposed to be dead, but isn't. Somewhere along the way, Magnum also becomes a highly specialized hero by saving a drowning cat! James Cromwell appears uncredited as a gendarme in this final episode of Magnum, P.I.'s sixth season. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

    Magnum, P.I.: Little Girl Who
Magnum's ex-wife Michelle (Marta DuBois), introduced in the previous episode Memories are Forever (clips from which are seen in the course of this story), comes back into the detective's life. Having left her husband, a high-ranking Vietnamese officer, Michelle is on the lam from a gang of uniformed assassins. Pausing in mid-flight, Michelle leaves her 5-year-old daughter Lily (Kristen Carreira) with Magnum (Tom Selleck)--who begins to wonder if Lily is actually his own child. (More than one observer has noted that the famously "impenetrable" security system at Robin's Nest is surprisingly inadequate in this episode!) ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Magnum, P.I.: Way of the Stalking Horse
Magnum is hired by one Dan Wolf (Morgan Stevens) to locate Dan's missing father, a disreputable character named Theo Wolf (Clu Gulager). Only when it is too late does Magnum discover that "Dan" is actually a professional hit man, hired to murder Wolf before he can testifying in a mob trial. Before the episode runs its course, Magnum is himself shot and seriously wounded--and while hovering between life and death, the detective experiences some truly weird visions, notably his friend Rick (Larry Manetti) in Humphrey Bogart guise! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Magnum, P.I.: This Island Isn't Big Enough
Rick (Larry Manetti) sets sail on a chartered fishing excursion with several suspicious-looking customers. Hours later, Rick's boat drifts back to the dock with no one on board. The authorities are certain that Rick and his passengers have been lost at sea, but Magnum suspects otherwise. Assisting our hero in his subsequent investigation is Det. Gordon Katsumoto (Clyde Kusatsu), a John Wayne devotee who insists upon speaking and behaving just like "The Duke" (the fact that the detective's Wayne imitation is pretty awful only adds to the enjoyment of this episode!). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Magnum, P.I.: All Thieves on Deck
In order to flush out the person or persons who have attempted to steal a valuable statuette of the Hawaiian god Amakua, Magnum stage-manages a luxury cruise in which all the passenger roster consists of the principal suspects. Sure enough, murder and mayhem quickly ensue, and it soon becomes apparent that a crooked toy manufacturer is at the center of all the trouble. Most of this episode was lensed on location on the decks of the "S.S. Constitution." ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Magnum, P.I.: Mad Dogs and Englishmen
Magnum (Tom Selleck) can't believe his eyes and ears when Higgins (John Hillerman) abruptly leaves the Masters Estate after being fired for embezzling funds. What Magnum doesn't know is that Higgins is on a covert mission for the British Secret Service to squash a renegade guerilla group. In his efforts to find out why Higgins is behaving so strangely, Magnum is continually flustered by Higgins' replacement, birdbrained actress Ginny Malcolm (Darleen Carr). ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Magnum, P.I.: I Never Wanted to Go to France, Anyway
Magnum (Tom Selleck) dons a clown suit to pose as a roustabout with the "Inky Gilbert Travelling Carnival and Midway". An old friend of Higgins (John Hillerman), the aforementioned Inky (Clive Revill) has been plagued by a number of suspicious accidents, suggesting that someone is trying to force him out of business. In his confrontations with such sideshow regulars as Gus the Geek (Geoffrey Lewis), Charles the Dwarf (Tommy Madden) and a taciturn knife-thrower known as The Chief (Skeeter Vaughn), Magnum hopes to get to the bottom of the mystery--and to solve a murder that occurs in the course of events. Featured as one of the "carnies" is former Playboy Playmate Karen Elayna Price. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

    Magnum, P.I.: Summer School
Kicked out of school once again, R.J. Masters (Tate Donovan), punkish nephew of Robin Masters, is sent to Robin's Nest for the summer to learn the finer aspects of gentlemanly behavior from Jonathan Higgins (John Hillerman). Unfortunately, R.J. has no intention of reforming, as he quickly demonstrates by posing as Magnum (Tom Selleck) and accepting an investigation job from a beleagured widow (Meredith MacRae). Before long, the kid is up to his neck in danger, and it looks as if the "real" Magnum may not be able to bail him out! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Magnum, P.I.: A Little Bit of Luck, A Little Bit of Grief
Much to the amazement of one and all, Rick (Larry Manetti) returns from vacation with a million dollars and a new fiancee. The money is the result of Rick winning a lottery, and the girlfriend, presumably, is the result of the money. Inevitably, the burden of instant wealth has a negative effect on Rick, nearly ruining everything he holds near and dear. Meanwhile, in their battle to prevents an evil land developer from bulldozing a clubhouse for underprivileged kids, Magnum (Tom Selleck) and T.C. (Roger E. Mosley end up getting arrested--three times! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Magnum, P.I.: Find Me a Rainbow
Lydia McCarthy (Julia Montgomery) hires Magnum (Tom Selleck) to locate a jewel thief, whom she identifies as her chauffeur. It soon develops that the "jewel" in question is Lydia's own son, who may have been kidnapped by his father--and once Magnum has these facts at his disposal, his next step is to flush out a rather vicious black-market adoption ring. Meanwhile, Higgins is having "kid problems" of his own with a rowdy group of underprivileged youngsters. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Magnum, P.I.: Who Is Don Luis Higgins, and Why Is He Doing These Terrible Things to Me?
John Hillerman once again essays a dual role, appearing in his usual guise as Jonathan Higgins, and as Jonathan's half-brother Don Luis Mongueo. Heir to the throne of Costa De Rosa, Don Luis may very well be in on a plot to assassinate the country's president Manuel Ibanez (Cesare Danova), who happens to be paying a visit to Robin's Nest just as Higgins is stage-managing an important chess tournament. Magnum (Tom Selleck) races against time to find out if Don Luis is truly the villain of the piece, or if some unknown party is the real culprit. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
