I needed a piece of equipment that would travel well with all the other things that teachers have to take on overnight field trips. The RT fit the bill and was perfect for keeping track of happenings at school and on the road.

Daughter has one for school, it's great. So I got one for the same reasons, portability, features, battery life, not disappointed. First one worked great until the network adaptor failed. Took it back, was within my exchange window, they gave me a brand new one, great customer service. Still learning about it, need to get a chance on a rainy day to sit down and play and explore. I like it!!! Get a case for it too

Well as it turns out the surface is a far better device. I can expand the memory word process and still do the web surfing I did on the iPad. This device really makes it clear that the iPad is a very cool toy but other than that you need a surface.

I was looking for a portable pc replacement and not a computer companion. This is what you want if that is the case. A full keyboard was important to me as well. Can not share my office documents as easily as I would like as there is no sharing from desktop. Need to use it as a computer...ie go into email and attach file. Feature is built in and not functional which is frustrating, but I imagine this will change.
