Posted by: from Carlsbad,New Mexico on 05/18/2013I like having Window 8 on the tablet, because it saves space and is more mobile for me, because I live in a RV. It is good to be able to get close to the screen to see war I am typing. Thanks for thinking about the disabled.

    Perfect for my needs

Posted by: from Alexandria, VA on 05/18/2013I travel a lot, and I have to carry my laptop with me to stay in contact. Even portable laptops could be a hassle in size and weight, but the Surface is perfect for me. Its portable and light (it feels like a small book in my hand). It allows me to read email and surf the web, as well as Skype with my family and program while I am on the plane or in the hotel. I create a large number of presentations with Powerpoint, write papers in Word, and analyze data in Excel. I use multiple Virtual Machines with Windows8 as well as program in Python, Java, and C++.

Don't bother. Surface will be Zune #2

Posted by: from San Diego, CA on 05/17/2013So disappointed. Was looking forward to it but my experience with it made me want to run back to iPad. The touch screen is unresponsive, it gets stuck all the time, interface is clunky, it is not comfortable to hold, it is heavy, the variety of apps is limited, not all of them work properly and most of them are way unsophisticated.

Great tablet that does duel duty.

Posted by: from Merrimack, NH on 05/17/2013Great duel duty tablet. Have installed every software I've thrown at it including Microsoft Excel and Word 95. I kid you not. Photoshop and media ripping and conversion is a breeze. Hdmi output to 42" LCD and have not turned on my 500 watt desktop since I bought this baby home.

Nice tablet and easy to use for getting online

Posted by: from Grand Rapids Michigan on 05/17/2013Surface Pro is a real nice and fast tablet. The keyboard is ok but seems to be in my way more that I use it. I love the touch screen capabilities of it and the full USB port. Sound quality seems a little lacking though.

I'm completely shocked how much I love the S. Pro
    5
Posted by: from Aloha, OR on 05/17/2013I'm shamed to admit that I only bought the Surface Pro from Best Buy (instead of my discount source) because I thought there was a 50/50 chance that I'd hate it and have to return it. Best Buy is good with returns. I had heard bad things about Window 8 so I was leery. Boy was I shocked when I fell in LOVE with this thing! Windows 8 is awesome -- I can easily customize the tiles just like I do on my phone with my android apps and on my android tablet. I easily found win 8 versions of all my favorite apps, except one (Google Sky), and win 8 has a whole host of even better apps/programs that I now never want to live without (photo editing and a few others). The Intel I5 screams past the performance of my other laptop, desktop and tablet. Boot-up is so fast it still surprises me every time. The screen resolution is beautiful. I can toggle back and forth between tablet mode (looks like my android phone) and laptop mode (looks like the traditional windows set up on my laptop), which is brilliant. The keyboard is designed so well that I don't lose any typing speed when I use it and it feels nice to my fingers. The user experience is so good and it so consistently exceeds my expectations that I don't even feel like I overpaid at $1400 (with all the bells and whistles and insurance, etc). It is honestly the most fun toy that I've ever played with, as well as the most useful content creation device, that I feel slightly disappointed when I use any of my other devices. It even makes reading email a joy. On top of all that, it has a really good camera, it is easy to use with a finger or a stylus or a mouse, it has good sound to watch movies with, and delightfully runs everything the internet has to offer without so much as a stutter. I am so crazy happy that it makes me want to go out and hug someone from Microsoft. Yeah, that happy. Oh, and I've changed its name to Precious. It's Myyyyy Preciousssss . . . . . . .

    PC in a tablet
    5
Posted by: from on 05/17/2013Was on the fence on getting a tablet. I already own a Note2 smart phone so a larger version of my phone wasn't justifiable. Enter the Surface Pro I play full PC games with the aid of a XBOX controller and run Office etc with ease. Love the device.

    Tablet that runs real software
    5
Posted by: from las vegas on 05/17/2013It runs desktop software (photo and video editing, etc) and has a USB port. It is very portable and doesn't weigh much. If you fly, this is a huge improvement from a laptop. And the Bluetooth mouse is very nice!

Not intuitive as to how use
    3
Posted by: from Milwaukee, WI on 05/17/2013I think the unit will be very useful once I'm able to discern how to connect. Air card won't load; unable to connect to public wireless that my laptop can log into. No instructions or link to operating tips. Screen very good, seems to be robust. Difficult to navigate between panes.
