Motorola - Atrix HD 4G Mobile Phone - White (AT&T) (8 out of 8)
Amazing phone

Posted by: from Norfolk, VA on 04/06/2013Great phone for the price. It just feels amazing with Jellybean 4.1.1. My earlier phone was HTC Inspire 4G with Gingerbread OS. I liked that this phone looks like Nexus - the three basic buttons. The only drawback of this phone is that the battery cannot be replaced.

Pick this one!

Posted by: from on 01/09/2013I had an HTC Inspire for two years and loved it. However, after a while the screen started going out and the button to activate the screen would lock up the phone. I loved the phone so much that I just didn't care. If the same happens to this one I won't care either (given a proper amount of time passes). Anyways, this phone is just wonderful. I was skeptical because the last Motorola I had was when colored screens were first introduced (however long ago that was). Granted, I've only had this phone for three days now, but the only "complaints" I have are that pics turn sideways when you text them-if they were taken in portrait mode -and you have to have your mobile data turned on to send and receive pics. This may be the norm now...I'm not sure, but with my other phone that wasn't the case. In any event these things are really only a slight annoyance. Everything else works beautifully and I am very happy with my purchase...it was even free when I upgraded. It definitely takes longer to ship than from AT&T directly, but it was worth the wait for sure. I also upgraded about two months ago to a Samsung Galaxy SIII, but returned it cause I didn't really like it (I wanted too, just didn't like the way it operated). Also, I've never written a product review before...that's how happy I am with this !!!

Locked bootloader means not for enthusiasts
4
Posted by: from Washington DC on 11/30/2012Wonderful phone if you can forgive its quibbles. The biggest of which is the infamous locked bootloader. No word yet if Motorola will offer an unlock tool. However, they have announced a "Developer" edition which would hint at a fat chance for us existing Atrix HD owners. What does it mean for you? Well for one, no custom roms which throws Android's whole Open Source thing out the window. Adobe Flash is NOT supported on this device. Functionally the camera is sub-par. If you are coming from an AMOLED screen you'll notice the contrast ratio is also bad. The USB port is picky about which cables you use to charge it, and if you're a world traveler, the door to swap out memory cards and sims is annoying to use. So while this review might sound harsh, the phone really is great. Fast CPU, tons of RAM, 4G LTE is quick, SmartActions is awesome, and the pearlescent white is a welcomed contrast from the plain.

Superb phone for the price

Posted by: from Milton, Fl on 11/24/2012I bought two of these phones for my Mom and Wife as an upgrade with ATT. I own the Motorola Atrix 2, which is the predecessor to this phone, and I have had it for over a year and am in no hurry to upgrade. The Femmes had Blackberry Torches as did I prior to switching to Android. I met some resistance switching them to Android... but that lasted about 10 minutes. I am very pleased with my phone and decided to stick with Moto for the upgrades. The phone does not disappoint at all! The screen has plenty of real estate and the customize-able OS makes on screen typing and organization superior. I was concerned about battery life, but we downloaded 2x battery extender from the Play Store and we all get a full days worth of battery out of the phone, even when doodling with all of the apps, and web surfing all day. The HDMI out is great for connecting to your TV for streaming. 4G LTE is fast and turning on the WIFI hot-spot almost makes internet service obsolete. Thousands of APPS from the market. Friends try to show off their iPhones to me, but mine does everything theirs does and more, plus all of the phones were FREE! I customized the home screen and group everything into useful folders in order to make everything easily accessible. The pictures on this phone and the ATRIX 2 are as good as my clunky digital camera any day. This phone makes our laptops a doorstop and has us considering ditching cable. The screen is large and bright, but there seems to be some wasted real estate. Also, the flap for inserting the SIM card and SD card is not perfectly smooth along the edge. Despite these very minor flaws, this is an amazing phone! You won't be disappointed at all.

My primary focus on a new phone was sound quality
5
Posted by: from Northwest , Washington on 11/04/2012Wow I was due for an upgrade , I wanted a phone with really good sound quality . The Atrix-HD has given that and so much more.Easy to read , great display 4.7 in. ,Kevlar body (bullet proof vest material),front and back facing HD cameras ,smooth glide touch control , Hi-def output as well as USB .I paired it with the Motorola Silver - Elite bluetooth headset which is the most comfortable headset I have experienced and with Moto-speak included it does voice command texting , which verifies your message before it is sent out !! This phone was only $49.00 with a two year commitment with a server I have been very happy with .Did I mention I get 4G service in a remote community in the Northwest ? I also added an extra 32GB SD card and loaded a couple of movies on to it of course HD. There are many more great features to this phone and I am ecstatic about it's performance !!
