It insists that you check for the latest updates. It finds one, and proceeds for hours trying to install it. Just DON'T BOTHER.

Great for viewing netflix but not much else

Posted by: Shizman from on 04/16/2013Ended up getting a WD Live. This player was good at only one thing. Playing netflix. The remote rarely worked unless you stood up right next to the player. The network share didn't see anything I had shared on the media server. Other features were difficult, slow and laggy.

Haven't found much use for many of the other apps available. It did freeze once since I had it but I'm hoping this will not be a constant problem.

Nice Roku alternative

My Samsung bluray player had a Cinemanow app, but it was slow and clunky. I found the Neo tv to be a good value, cheaper than the Roku but featuring apps for all major providers (some have their own remote buttons). This is the first box I have seen that actually does have an on/off button, it does take a couple of seconds to find the wireless signal. Most of the apps are well laid out except for Cinemanow which seemed overly convoluted with its menus. If you are not interested in the hundreds of strange Roku channels I would recommend this box.
