I purchased this about a month ago. The compatability checker the nest has online is easy to determine if it'll work in your home. Install was a breeze and it walks you step by step to set it up. After the first day it recognized our preferences and started automatically changing temperatures from that point on.
It remembers when we leave for work, when we come home and when we go to bed. The only time I have to adjust it is when my boyfriend turns it up (since I don't like the house to feel like a sauna and he does, lol!).
Anytime we leave the house I turn it down to the energy saver... And when we are on our way home, I use the app to turn the heat back on. So when we get back in the house, it's nice and toasty!
I don't know how much I've saved on energy costs yet, but I don't even care, lol! It's sleek and modern and looks cool on our wall. I never have to think or worry about it. And if for some reason I wanna check what the temperature is in my house when I'm away, I can just check my app.
I highly recommend this product to everyone. My co-worker, who's in his late forties, said I was crazy to spend that much money on a thermostat, but I have no regrets. I love it!1 out of 1 found this review helpful.

Had to replace an old thermostat and chose the Nest after researching others with WiFi connectivity and flexible programming. Saw positive reviews for Nest and it does not disappoint! Easy to install, program, and manage from a smartphone. Fun to watch energy savings and it looks great on the wall, too. While it is still early, I am very impressed with the abilities of this thermostat. I installed in a week ago, and absolutely love the ability to control the device via my iPhone from anywhere. You are also able to see usage statistics and patterns via the app or on the web.
My device is still "learning" as it has not been quite a week, but based on the technology behind the device, it is almost guaranteed to save money on the energy bill. I am most excited about the "airwave" technology that will run the blower over a cold A/C coil in the summer after the compressor shuts off. That principle makes so much sense and can be key to 20-30% energy savings in the summer, although time will tell. Overall, I am excited about what I will end up saving with the thermostat in the end. While it was $250 up front, once you add in the "cool" factor, the apps, and the potential energy savings, it is almost sure to pay me back in the end.
One other note... I would strongly recommend having a "C" common wire to power this device in your thermostat wiring. One can be added if needed. Without it, the device only can charge its internal battery when it runs. If it runs less (and face it - that is the goal), then the battery could drain, causing some functionality to drop out. I believe there is some programming that will kick the fan on a furnace on to get the juice flowing to charge the battery, but that seems to be a waste of energy. Install the "C" wire and you will have a much easier go of it and it will be much more reliable.2 out of 2 found this review helpful.

This thing is ridiculously awesome. Besides being aestedically pleasing, this was one of the easiest things I've every installed electrical wise. Haven't had it long enough to see an energy bill, but so far this thing is really neat.1 out of 2 found this review helpful.

I like how easy this product is to use. Telephone support in getting it set up was fabulous. I know I will save on electricity. An electrician set it up for me because he was wiring another job at the time. (I could have done it myself.) He said he has never seen anything like this thermostat and was quite impressed with it. I feel like "Big Brother" is watching me because of the way it monitors our activity in the house. It is definitely a keeper.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

After doing extensive research on the Nest thermostat I decided to buy one despite some of the negative reviews I saw regarding installation and functionality. I am certainly glad I bought one!
After getting my first $200 electric bill, I installed Nest back in December. I have a common single source heat/cool pump. Installation was a breeze and connecting to the wifi was seamless and worked immediately. After a few weeks Nest started learning my habits of temperature settings I usually use and when. I ended up turning off the Auto Away feature because my thermostat isn't in a normal traffic area but I can see this being a useful feature for sure. My first full electric bill after installing Nest for a full billing period with weather conditions roughly the same as the previous bill was $128. Nest saved me $72 immediately! Thats a pretty good ROI for just one bill.One of the cool features is the time-to-heat indicator that tells you exactly how long it will take for the house to reach your desired temperature. I love being able to control the thermostat from my iPad/iPhone in the rare event I need to alter the temperature while away. You can also use the mobile app to review your usage and view the energy reports.
There is no way I'd buy any other thermostat after using Nest. The cost is definitely worth it as it will pay for itself in just a few months. The ease of installation alone is a huge selling point let alone the beautiful color display.2 out of 2 found this review helpful.

Before you install, get the wiring diagram online from nest that is specific to your system.
I like how it learns what settings you want.
It is great to be able to use the internet thru WiFi to document energy use.
In addition, you can change the settings over the internet when you are not home. When you access nest on your smart phone or computer (from anywhere in the world), you climate system immediately responds by turning on the fan or increasing the set point for heating.
There is full flexibility for heating and A/C set points simultaneously.

Physical install is a little tricky, but not critically difficult. Programming is a breeze given the set up prompts. Unit learns you at home patterns over about a week, so don't install if you are going to be away for awhile. Love managing it from my phone or pc when on the road. I set the temp at 55 when away, and then back to the normal temp about 2 hours before getting back.2 out of 2 found this review helpful.
