I am definitely what you would call a hardcore A7X fan. I have listened to them since the release of Sounding the Seventh Trumpet when I was 8 years old. My favorite album is Waking the Fallen by far. Now for the review. I honestly think the closest sounding album to this they have done is Diamonds in the Rough. It reminds me of that album the most. There is elements of self-titled and City of Evil though. Honestly, I hate City of Evil. I think it is probably their worst album, but the album "Nightmare" definitely has a lot of similar qualities to it. This is a great album if you love Avenged Sevenfold. If you like City of Evil or Self-titled then you should definitely pick this one up. The run time is over 60 minutes, so you get your money's worth. I rate this an excellent when comparing it to all types of music out there, but for Avenged Sevenfold I would give it a 4/5. It's not as amazing as their Self-Titled album or Waking the Fallen to me, but it's definitely a great album.

This album represents the progression of A7X from a struggling metal core band to the threshold of metal history with the likes of Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. What's even more impressive in this album is the resilience of the band in the wake of The Rev's death. Some of the best songs that will be played and covered by others for years to come include "Nightmare", "Welcome to the Family", and "Fiction." Furthermore, M. Shadows' vocals on "God Hates Us" proves that his vocal surgeries did not prohibit his once signature scream.
