Excellent eye view

Posted by: Psalms125 from Houston, Tx on 05/14/2013This is an awesome lens for your third or fourth addition. I use it to create close in shots that tell a story and show an intimacy with the subjects.
It is a little slow to focus and with the smaller COMOS chip common to DSLR's it is closer to a 50mm than a 35mm lens.
the focal length is reflexive enough to allow incredible depth of field control. I enjoy playing with this feature the most. The F 1.8 also allows in an incredible amount of light, allowing for less flash an more natural lighting.

Posted by: rajk456 from schaumburg, IL on 05/13/2013it is definitely worth buying this lens for the price. excellent focus rim and auto focus on this works great. thought the auto focus doesn't do a good job when extremely close(but i prefer manual for that kind of shots).

Great lens for a Beginner

Posted by: Jstricklin from Edmond, OK on 05/09/2013This lens is ready for use straight out of the box. Auto-focus is quick and the motor is silent. I have a D3100 and with this lens, it has been my goto combination for any type of photography.

Posted by: cns2007 from Northville, MI on 05/03/2013Thumbs up for a fast lens! Indoor pictures are easy and quick without needing to worry about using a flash. There is no downside to this lens and it is priced perfectly. Works great with my Nikon D90.

A must-have lens for any photography level

Posted by: sme168 from PA on 04/29/2013If you do indoor photos or low-light photos, using a prime lens with an aperture range of f/1.8 to f/22 will allow more light into the sensor, so your photos are brighter without using a flash or other light source.
You will also get beautiful bukah (blurred background) with a lower aperture. This is a fixed lens--your feet are the zoom. You move closer/farther away from your subject. The aperture range is f/1.8 to f/22.
I use this lens about 95% of the time over my zoom lenses.

Awesome lens

Posted by: Jeff987012 from Kingwood, TX on 04/27/2013This lens is amazing. I was going to get the 50mm, but went with the 35mm because my camera does not have a full-frame sensor. It is perfect for all uses.

Great little lens for the price

Posted by: NikonOwner from Lexington, KY on 04/27/2013I love this lens. Not the best choice for portraits because of the short focal length, but great for low-light street shots. I have it on the camera most of the time.
