Posted by: sweetnsassy151 from Sioux Falls, SD on 05/17/2013After several months of trying to decide between the D5100, D5200 and the D7000, I finally got the D7000. I changed from Canon and while the D5200 body would have taken less time to get used to,, I am so glad I got this. I am a hobbyist who occasionally does portrait work and I must say that this is fast and much better at capturing fast moving children than my old Canon DSLR! The lens that came with it really surprised me as kit lenses in my experience aren't all that great.

Posted by: SemiPro2 from Macon, GA on 05/14/2013Been a novice/amateur/sub-professional photographer for over 30 years. Started with the Nikon EM 35mm. Have shot a few weddings, church events, was the college fraternity photographer and have been asked to shoot misc events and portraits. With the digital age came my first an old hp 3 or 4 pixel camera. The batteries would die after about 30 or 40 pictures. Then came the small handheld "point and shoot". Good cameras but couldn't compair to my old 35mm. Then I got the Nikon P90. I stretched the camera limits and my ability with that camera. It took great pictures and have recieved a lot of compliments from those photos. Five months ago I got this package, the D7000 camera and the lenses. I shake my head and wish I had gotten this years ago. The efforts I put into getting good images with the P90 would have been GREAT images with this setup. I still say "I love this camera" out loud as I review my pictures to this day. Of course there are several good cameras and brands out there but I wouldn't trade this one for anything!

Posted by: jeffsgirl from Purcellville, VA on 04/24/2013My husband and I are amateur photographers and wanted to step it up from the last SLR camera we had which was the Canon Rebel XT (which stopped working a year or so ago). We've been very pleased with the quality of pictures we've gotten from the D7000 and the ease of use. It's been fun experimenting with it.

Posted by: Keemo55 from South Texas on 04/21/2013It's also a great "auto" camera, but I bought it to shoot indoor sports. That requires some special settings & utilizes some of the camera more sophisticated features.
If you want a camera that you can grow into, this is it. I had it about a month & I'm getting some great shots - freezing sports action, eliminating blur, burst shots, etc.
