Windows and Nokia - what a pair

Posted by: from Lafayette, in on 03/03/2013Apple better watch out. I recommend this phone to everyone. I have been trying to wean people away from the iPhone. It's time to step out of the boat and look beyond the iPhone. Nokia makes it simple. If you have a Mac there is an app you can install for flawless syncing of your phone with iTunes. Couldn't be easier.

A beautifully awesome phone!

Posted by: from NJ on 02/02/2013Having had in the past HTC's, Nokia N81 unlocked(which was my favorite and in my opinion the most advanced at the time, expect for iPhones keyless keyboard) iPhones and Samsung galaxy2. I was in the market for an upgrade. Judging from past experiences and researching and reading reviews...I knew I didn't want another iPhone, as many have said not much innovation thru the years(my Nokia N81 had video calling 6yrs ago even thou no carriers in the USA provided the service)yes some tweaks here and there, yes they are lighter but most definitely more fragile. I see many people walking around with cracked screens especially iPhones and galaxy 3s, the one great thing about the iPhone 3GS was it's build and quality it can take a beating and not break. I was very close to purchasing a galaxy 3 nice looking screen good sound better than iphone 5 in my opnion, but something about the build didn't quite convince me so I decided to wait for the Nokia Lumia 920 and check it out (wasn't ever interested in Samsungs Note 2, way to large). I'm glad I waited for the 920 It feels like a premium device it reminds me of the iPhone 3GS great quality, the screen is beautiful, the color options are great(got a yellow one), Windows 8 OS works great for me the live tiles are a breath of fresh air you run you finger along the screen everything has a smooth feel, great speakers, the Nokia apps are great Nokia music pretty much unlimited music, Nokia city lens is an innovative app, Nokia offline GPS app and on are all free. NFC, Yes finally wireless charging, I lost count of how many chargers I've purchased for my Iphone. Last but not least...the camera it's awesome in dark light conditions its like magic you can't believe it, and it shoots great videos as well with image stabilization...having kids this phone is great don't have to worry about carrying a separate camera. Some people say the 920 might be on the hefty side, but if you put a case on your phone the weight is about the same, the 920 doesn't need a case checkout the YouTube videos out there. The App Store doesn't have nearly as many apps available that you can get on a iPhone or Android stores, but I have most of what I need. The OS is new so more apps will be available soon, I can see the difference in the month I've had the device they've multiplied. Some minor things might need to be tweaked with the OS, but I've been getting updates which is good, they seem to be addressing the issues.

Posted by: from on 12/22/2012I got my hands on a yellow one and I love it. it I is so stunning, I keep pulling it out just to look at it. The software on this phone is very unique and well designed it really stands out. I have had a lot of people comment on how cool it is. The phone takes better pictures then my current digital camera. Plenty of apps on the appstore as well.

Like the phone hate the battery and lockups
4
Posted by: from St Louis on 11/23/2012The phone is excellent; it looks great and feels great. I really like the integration it has with Hotmail; SkyDrive is amazing, excellent for photographs. The camera is really good but do not believe the hype that it rivals an SLR camera, it doesn’t. The battery is not great, at first the phone was lasting no more than 10 hours with moderate use. I wasn’t talking on the phone but texting via whatsapp. After doing some research I found that if you disable some of the background tasks (Drive+ in particular) the batter will last a lot longer, it’s still not great but it’s an improvement. Right now (November 23, 2012) the phone seems to be having lockup issues. I have been speaking with Nokia support and they are aware of the issue but no updates have been given. I was going to return the phone for a replacement until I noticed the Nokia forum website. There are lots of people that are having this lockup issue. Hopefully this is something MS and Nokia can fix sometime soon with an update patch. Overall I really like the phone and I would have given it a perfect score if it wasn’t for the battery life.

Posted by: from chatleston sc on 11/14/2012I have been an iphone owner since day one. I wanted to do something diffrent. I was having anxiety attacks at the thought of leaving ios. After using this phone I don't think I will every go back to iphone as long as microsoft keeps innovating. all my music transfered with out a prob. that was my biggist concern. Sky drive is better than icloud. one think i wish microsoft would do. is not just back up app list but apps and data as well. other than than I have no complaints.

Posted by: from on 11/11/2012Really impressed. Couldn't ask for more. What I like the most: Its super sensitive touch screen Nokia City Lens (maps). Gorgeous! Nokia Music, which puts its rivals to shame. Nokia Pureview. Wont believe it. The pictures are amazing! 8.7 megapixels. Its low-light performance. This alone makes it a must buy! Its wireless charger, love it. Battery life, excellent. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Thanks NOKIA!

Beautiful Phone, OS, Design! Better than Iphone!

Posted by: from Spokane, Wa on 11/07/2012When I came in to get my upgrade, I wanted to get the Iphone 5 for sure, cause apparently everyone thinks its the best phone, but then I seen this beautiful phone they call the Lumia 920, and it blew me away. Dont believe anybody who says its heavy, It weighs just as much as the iphone 5 does with a case on it. It has a promising body, and if you drop it it wont break right away (It is a Nokia) There are over 120,000 apps in the marketplace and day by day they add popular ones. I know for sure they are working on Instagram aswell. And all of the best things from Microsoft are built right into this phone. Skydrive, Microsoft Office, Skype, Xbox Live, Nokia Maps, Nokia Music, Zune (now called Xbox Music) I now know people get Apple products for the popularity, because this is literally the best smart phone on the market today, take my word for it, from a LONG time apple and Android user, Windows 8 kicks butt!

An amazing piece of engineering!

Posted by: from Draper, UT on 11/07/2012The Nokia Lumia 920 is an amazing phone! It just feels like a quality product when you use it. The screen is bright and responsive. The 60hz refresh rate is the real deal - you can see the difference when scrolling. Apps fly with the dual-core processor. Windows Phone 8 has matured and Nokia has proven they've still got what it takes to make incredible high-end devices. My Galaxy Note (which I adored) is now a hand-me-down to the kids.

Very nice phone! Feels fresh and smooth

Posted by: from NY on 11/07/2012First thing I noticed was the huge, bright and extremely sharp (more that 720p!!) and sensitive display. It was love at first sight. All the features I want are there and even more, superb camera, I got wireless charging pad which is very convenient; you just put your phone on it and it charges. Then one I have is on my office desk but I'll get another for my bed table at home so it charges during the night and I don't need to plug any wires at all, ever. Also phone's UI runs super smooth and fast, there is a lot of cool games and apps available and they run very nicely. UI isn't only smooth and fast but it's also very nice looking. I also love Nokia Music service, it is beyond any other I know of; music for free without any limits. I love the design, this phone is just beautiful. Perfect.
