Great starter home theater projection unit
    4
Posted by: from Missouri City, TX on 03/18/2013I would agree with the majority of what others have said. The first one I ordered was DOA - fan did not kick on. Second one has been fine. HDMI input is great, but pre hi-def..480p. Video games, animated movies and ESPN/NFL network where the colors are bright the picture is very good. The movies with darker sceens like parts of batman or star wars are not as crisp. For me, this has been an excellent starter unit to give a projector a try without breaking the bank. I already had my sound set up, so for the price of a good 32" - 40" LCD I have a 100" inch screen(projector and screen) For best sound results, use a home theater set up. The speaker is okay for portable applications but not recommended for movies.

    Good value

Posted by: from Manassas VA on 03/15/2013I needed a projector for a slideshow at work. Not knowing how often I might need it, I didn't want to invest in anything too pricey. I read good reviews on this one and figured I'd get since the price was right, and if it didn't work out I could always return it. Our presentation was a success and slideshow was a main part of it. Happily the projector worked great and the presentation was professional. I give it 4 stars. I would have given 5 stars, but I am concerned if the plastic casing will last, and I wish the lens has a cap. I also wish the directions explained more to those of us that are not tech savvy. Another minus is that I had to go buy an HDMI cable, but because of the great price, I didn't really mind. I do recommend this as it does what it needs to and you can't beat the price.

    Great starter projector.

Posted by: from Flint, Mi on 02/22/2013I found that this projector is great for ps3 gaming, and movies. It is very easy to use. Sleek and small design is nice. Great price for a first time projector. Ive compared it to a lot more expensive models and this one hangs with the big dogs for a budget price. The built in speaker is a nice bonus. My only complaint is that I wish it had a remote. Otherwise very happy!

    Great entry level projector....
    4
Posted by: from IA on 02/22/2013Overall, this is a very good entry level projector (IMHO). I am using it in the house for now on a 103" blackout cloth screen. The picture is very nice. Colors are very nice. The focus leaves something to be desired. But, not a big issue by any means (it does focus -not blurry). Darker scenes are hard(er) to see. There's not much adjustment. I am anxious for nicer weather so I can use this outside for movie/game nights (at home & lake). For $200 bucks, I think it was a great buy. I also bought a Panasonic Blu-ray player to go with it. It works very well too. It upscales DVD's well. I hooked this up to a book shelf stereo, and it is perfect for what I need/use it for. My young girls think it's pretty cool watching their Disney princess movies on an 8' diagonal screen. Hoping to bump that up this summer. See if the picture fades out much (12'+?). Buy it, you'll like it!

    Good for your money

Posted by: from Derwood, MD on 02/21/2013I ordered the Optoma PT110 on a Wednesday and it was delivered to my door on Monday. It is very easy to set up, no complicated menus to wade through. So far my wife and I used it to watch DVDs and the internet movies, etc. We have not tried HDMI, so I do not know if the image quality will be any different, but will try soon. We are very satisfied with the quality of the images, and it gives us a 58-inch screen on the wall, so we do not have to buy a dedicated screen for now. The brightness of the projector is low, so you cannot watch movies during the day with strong sunlight. Also I would rather like the projector in a more traditional ‘square shape’ than its present shape. The focus has to be adjusted by hand and now and then you have to fine-adjust the focus a little bit. So it is not fun for the one who has to do the adjusting. The speakers of the projector are weak, but then, who trust the speakers of any projectors?
