my second projector review. from HD20 to GT750E
5
Posted by: wolfhawk57 from saint charles, IL on 03/25/2013hey guys wolfhawk here. of course i wanted to do my second review here on best buy. yes i did get this projector from best buy in store.
of course you guys know i own 2 projectors the HD 20 by optoma and now the GT750E.
so lets talk about the GT750E. before for a cheer fully for this product.
keep in mind this projector is made for gamers that are in small rooms and for rooms that are not bigger then 12FT by 12FT. there is no manual zoom which makes users think this is not a home theater projector but it is. this projector is what we call a FIXED lens zoom of WUXGA on it that does 1920X1080P and does 16:10. now most modern projectors have manual zooms.
but lets talk about that for a second. with the optoma HD 20 is a dream come true projector but if you don't have a home or a room or happen to be bigger then 12FT aka 15FT or greater then its going to fall short for a guy in a small room. and then your out of luck with it. but with the 750E projector. you can go ahead and not worry. it comes with everything that is on the high end models and alot of stuff in the medium range model. but this can be a blessing and a curse. number one with the fixed zoom lens.
it may aim high thats good. but when you move the projector back the image gets to big and starts to shoot higher. which means your going to have to use the built in v shift and get it down to -16 or higher depending on how high the image is aiming. or the next best thing is get a table and have it about 3 ft from the ground. a low table would be good for the projector since it aims up. most home theater users have a table that is 5 FT off of the ground. so keep that in mind when you come to this projector. second controllable Brilliant color mode. it has it. you can go from 0-10 on the BC setting to tweak the right image in colors. not only that you have something new under the advanced settings which i happened to love which the HD 20 did not have the Cyan, magenta and yellow tweak settings. on the HD 20 it only had the 3 colors red green and blue. bias and gain. now you can control 7 colors thats awesome. also this projector has alot more features.
then you also have the 3D part of the projector and you can tweak that too. which comes with its emitter. if you want to know how to tweak it. and control the glasses you can. just look up optoma 3D emitter and you will find a guide for the emitter and its settings. there is to much to talk about this projector. so i am going to recommend it. it is a Home theater projector and a gaming projector in 1. does 1920X1080P @60hz and 24HZ for 3D. does 1280X720P @120HZ for PC gamers. i happen to love every minute. plus it has a 3000 ANSI lumen s of light which is only found on High end projectors. this is a very bright projector. to the gamer this is all the projector your going to need and it doubles for those who want a enter the home theater projector side. for once and don't want all the hassles. of manual zooming or is limited in space. get this projector its worth the money.
but don't get this is your already a home theater projector users. this is for beginners and advance users only not for the elite projector home theater users. for those go to the HD 25-LV (coming soon) and HD 33 projector.

Excellent picture, I love the 3D functionality

Posted by: DKRB from Macomb, MI on 10/02/2012Overall, this projector is great and I'm happy with the purchase. Very nice picture for HD and Blu-ray. The 3D has a great picture also, only that I notice a slight hue of green when ever you are not looking directly at the tv kind of at an angle. This is definately not a show stopper, if you are interested, this is a good choice. It is a fixed projected thus you have to move the projector back until it fills up your screen, Im using a 110" screen and its back approx 7 ft or so hanging from my ceiling. You should ensue you have room to place it in your set up. Finally, you have to be careful with the 3D glasses because they feel delicate. I purchase 3 more pairs and we love it.

Great for small space.

Posted by: GCTechbear from Western MD on 09/20/2012I use the GT750 as my TV and at the moment I’m still getting used to this model. I had the GT730 with the 3D-XL before. I think I was happier with the 730. I see a lot of lines with some images with the new model. But it’s nice not to have to switch out stuff just for 3D. The 730 did not handle the 3D converter very well. Now the 750 is very bright and the color is great. I actually use it on economy mode. The “screen door” effect is next to none. If you really look for it you can see it, but I can see the pixels on a TV if I look for them. All and all it’s a great buy and I’m sure the lines are something I can work with in the settings. But if you are in a dim home theater and are not interested in 3D save yourself some cash and get the 730. Also beware the NO zoom. I was aware of that before I bought it so I was ready for the install distance from the screen.

The functionallity for watch 3D movies is a great option if you want it to set up in a Home Movie Theater. Totally portable in it's included backpack. Highly recommend.

Awesome Gaming Projector

Posted by: huyhoa from Boston MA on 07/23/2012This is a short throw projector and can project a pretty large screen at a very short distance. This is good if you are using it to play games as you are standing behind the projector and not in front of it (great for the Wii, Kinect, and Move). The short throw makes it very portable too. I find myself being able to project a very large screen with the limited amount of spaces I am provided anywhere I go.
The bulb has lasted more than 4k hours and is still nice and bright. Brightness is awesome. I can play in the daytime at 60-70% brightness and can still see quite well. Contrast and resolution is superb. It is an overall great projector.
As for the 3D, I don't find much use in it. It seems manufactures are switching to newer 3D technology like passive 3D. Glasses for these active 3Ds are still expensive and given that you are projecting a large screen means you probably will have a larger audience doesn't help either.
If you are a gamer, get this.

Awesome projector

Posted by: Kcool from Tx on 06/27/2012I bought this as open box item at very nice price. I was thinking it was going to ok projector and return it. However this turned out to be nice projector. This is a short throw projector designed to be placed on coffee table and played. However I did a ceiling mount and custome built 101 inch screen. Initially used the internal speakers and they sounded better than my plasma tv speakers. Now I have it hooked with my home theater system with hdmi and it's awesome. Picture quality is very nice and watched some movies in 3d and let me put it this was 3d on this looks much better than my 3d tv. Wish 3d glasses were little cheaper to buy since I have to 4. May be this might not be as well known as other brands however it's best project for the price range.

Used in Locomotive Simulator
5
Posted by: LocomotiveEngineer from Paducah, KY on 06/20/2012We had limited space so the short throw worked out for us. However, we do need higher resolution than is available in most projectors, including this one. Installation was tricky due to limited space and the design of the locomotive simulator cab itself. You have to get the projector centered and perpendicular or you will have focus and resolution issues. We used a white painted surface for the screen with good results. The simulator is in daily use so lamp life is a major concern. Also, we could not use the remote due to physical placement of the projector, so turning it on and off is a bit difficult. You can arrange it to turn on when power applied, but shutting it off by killing the power is NOT recommended. Heat is an issue. We wish that Optoma had used an LED instead of a mercury lamp. However, results were very acceptable. We do not use the built in speaker since the simulator has a surround sound system. All-in-all, we can say that we got a good projector for a very good price.
