Find out the best way for it to work for you4

At first it was pretty blah, but once I hooked it up to my laptop and downloaded games via Google Play, it was so much better and my 6 year old just LOVES it. You can download many games designed just for their age group. I too at first was horribly disappointed, but NOT anymore, so happy I got this for him for Christmas! It's totally worth the money and MUCH cheaper and justifiable than buying a 6 year old an iPad.1 out of 1 found this review helpful.

Meep- a good choice for us4

While the Meep's setup does take some dedicated child-free time to setup, once that's been done, we've found the Meep to be enjoyable and easy to use. The newest firmware update to version 2.0 has reduces other issues mentioned here like black screens and freezing/slow operations and also Meep Store problems. The coin system has been easy to use for us- you purchase the amount you wish, you allocate to each Meep, and your child spends it as they wish. Battery life can be improved by turning down screen brightness and turning off wifi when not in use. There is great customer support for the Meep in the form of a Facebook page with a dedicated crew to troubleshoot issues and announce Meep news. Bottom line, while I can understand there is some setup involved, nothing works 'out of the box'. The nice thing here is that you are the one who can customize the Meep the way that works best for your family.0 out of 1 found this review helpful.

I HAD GOT MY TWO LITTLE GIRLS WHO ARE AT THE AGES OF 5 AND 7 ONE EACH (PURCHASED AT TWO DIFFERENT STORES). THEY BOTH WERE THE WORST! FIRST ONE OF THEM FROZE N WE TRIED EVERYTHING FOR A WEEK TO FIX IT. NOTHING WORKED. TOOK IT BACK FOR ANOTHER ONE. THEY BOTH WOULD LOSE BATTERY POWER VERY VERY QUICKLY WOULD FREEZE WOULDNT WORK AND WERE VERY VERY VERY SLOW MOST OF THE TIME. THE WORST KID TABLET OF MY OPNION. I TOOK BOTH OF THE MEEPS BACK N GOT MY KIDS A NABI TABLET N ALL THOUGH IT AS ONLY BEEN A WEEK. WE HAVE HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS YET (KNOCK ON WOOD) WITH THESE. THEY RUN FAIRLY WELL AND QUICKLY HAVE REALLY GOOD STUFF ON THEM AND MY KIDS LOVE IT SO FAR. BUT I RECOMMAND NO ONE EVER BUY A MEEP THEY ARE WAY TOO MUCH TROUBLE FOR AND TOO EXPENSIVE FOR SUCH A WASTE OF A DEVICE.3 out of 5 found this review helpful.

I got the Meep as a replacement for a Kurio 7 that stopped working (due to my son chewing on the charger or a faulty charger in general). I took the Kurio back for a repair or replacement, they decided to replace it and said there was one in stock in the store, but couldn't find it. They offered me the Meep as a replacement and said it was the same thing, but said if I didn't like it I could bring it back and they would order the Kurio for me. Well, I got it home and began the setup process. You have to download two OTA's right off the bat, before you can set up parental controls or access the Meep store etc. Even after doing this, I could't get to the meep store and was having issues even connecting to the Meep Tablet setup site in general. There are also other peculiar things that I didn't like. Like the fact that the on/off switch doesn't really seem to work well. On mine, it only turns on, not off with the switch. Also, if the screen goes to sleep, the on/off switch doesn't turn it on again, it needs to be plugged in to wake it up. Strange. Also, there is no "Menu" key or icon. There is the "back" arrow, the "home" icon, and the volume icons. No Menu Icon for accesssing in game menus etc, that annoyed me. The speakers are really low, the top volume is barely audible, especially if the tablet is being used in a room where the tv or radio are also on. I had to jack into auxillary speakers #a la ihome# for my son to be able to hear anything and the lack of external volume controls was something I didn't like. The screen seems very fragile and vulnerable, regular touch seems to show the "liquidity" of the screen and even seems to dull the color #black turns to gray/white when touched# and that probably shouldn't happen. In the safety app, where it goes through how to behave with and on your Meep, the language is horrible, like it was written by someone who didn't quite have a grasp on proper grammer or possibly the english language. Overall, I'm not happy with the product and there's more I could go on about but I believe the gist is covered. Needless to say, I called the store and explained that I was not happy and that I'd like them to order a replacement Kurio7, and the associate acutally wanted to argue the superiority of the Meep's operating system vs the Kurio.. They're BOTH Android 4.0 and I have to say that the Kurio's parental controls are comprehensive, easy to use and you don't have to jump through hoops. The Kurio7 has access to ALL of the tablet's settings where the Meep seemed stripped down to me. Also, the gel skin that comes with the Kurio covers the entire back and sides of the tablet, whereas the Meep's is thin and only covers the edges. I don't think it would survive a child dropping it from more than a foot or two off the ground once or twice. Both tablets are the same price at BestBuy and I feel that you get more for your money with Kurio7 and WILL be getting another. I would say anyone coming from a Kurio probably shares my view. I've seen numerous reviews that mirror mine but if you want to see for yourself...make sure you keep your receipt and get a protection plan.5 out of 5 found this review helpful.

I sadly hate to admit when I buy something that does not even stand up to my iphone. $149 sounds like a good buy but is a waste of hard earned money. Battery life barely 2hrs poor for a kid tablet.5 out of 5 found this review helpful.

This is the worst item that I've purchased. This item was charged overnight to be used in the morning, but once it was taken off the charger it was only at 13%. After less than 10 mins of use it shuts down. GARBAGE! I brought it back 3 days later! My niece was not happy. You're better off buying an android tablet.3 out of 3 found this review helpful.

Needs Improvement2

I'm glad the have something for kids as a tablet but they can do better to make it user friendly. You have to log on to net to try and get apps but its totally confusing. I'm still trying to figure how to delete a video, so the option was to reset it...which wiped out the free apps which are not able to be retrieved yet. They need better instructions and the email they sent me came in another language... They need to improve this product but it has potential.1 out of 1 found this review helpful.
