Panda & Angel [EP]: Release Notes: Muze 
Panda & Angel: Carrie Murphy (vocals, guitar); Josh Wackerly (guitar, electronics); Kara Kikuchi (bass instrument, sampler).Upon first listen, Panda & Angel might suggest clean-cut, earnest chamber pop. And rightfully so, given the beautiful guitar work, chimes, and even a cello. But just below the surface, there's a countercurrent of strangeness to this 2006 EP for Jade Tree. Singer Carrie Murphy's voice is capable of many colors, and the electronic bits and distorted guitars that punctuate several of the songs underscore the disturbing details in many of the lyrics. This six-song debut should leave listeners curious and wanting more.
