NOWADAYS, this is my favorite crime-thriller genre of "starring-Jennifer Lopez" films! In "PARKER" (2013) Jennifer Lopez is sharing the lead with Jason Statham in a "comedic"-crime-thriller. Jason Statham is just naturally, innately "slightly comedic," without him even trying! ("PARKER" is a slightly comedic, quasi-crime-thriller, maybe "comedy-speaking," this is more like her work in the early 1995 film, "MONEY TRAIN," with Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson.) I like "PARKER" here in 2019, because it has a very nice interesting unique skillful-acting cohesiveness to it! The two actors have an unique and interesting connectivity-chemistry that is "captured on celluloid!" But, MOST OF ALL, she has matured massively as a good (fine) actress since OUT-OF-SIGHT, 20 years ago! For me, Jennifer Lopez is very pleasant, (and extemely enjoyable here) to watch as an beautiful, charismatic actress in her role in PARKER, more than in any of her other crime-thriller films. Three other good films in this crime-thriller genre starring Jennifer Lopez come to mind. They are all pre-2000, which makes them sort-of-dated, "socially," NOW. This word, "datedness," I am referring to here in my writing is: "PERHAPS 'datedness' is akin-like to a 1950's Glenn Ford Film-Noir-crime-thriller-genre-of-Movies type of 'datedness.' [Still, I love most all of Glenn Ford Movies!] I am here referring strictly to a socio-description of criminal-and-law-enforcement-activity as reflected in the chronological history of making-movies. AND Even THAT movie-making culture does change, along with the social changes in society! I think "PARKER (2013)" demonstrates very well the flavor and timber of a more current milieu of film-making and even today's (2019) social culture, maybe even a more current pseudo-Zeitgeist that we're passing through from ~2007-to-2019! The magic of Jennifer Lopez is that in each of her crime-thrillers she presents at least a different chemistry-coagulation of character-acting with different excellent-actors/leading men. 1. BLOOD AND WINE, with Jack Nicholson (1996). 2. U-TURN, with Sean Penn (1997), directed by the very talented Oliver Stone and, 3. OUT OF SIGHT, with George Clooney (1998). Of these above four, U-TURN is probably the most gripping and most-5-star-rating. AFTER that comes, OUT-OF-SIGHT, as her top two crime-thriller films. Both 20+years ago. BUT, PARKER (2013) has a well-coagulated, more-recent, more "modern" chemistry between Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez that is as unique as both Jennifer Lopez and Jason Statham are UNIQUE and so-INDIVIDUAL! Furthermore, "PARKER" is a comedic-mildly-flavored crime-thriller (a la a humorous Robin Hood & Maid Marion slightly-far-removed). This influence depicted in "PARKER" is unlike the relatively heavily drama-laden crime thrillers she starred in circa 20+ years ago in the 4 films that come to my mind above! [There is also a 5th excellent film made slightly later than 2000. It is the very excellent "ENOUGH" (2002) with gravitas-leading man, BILL CAMPBELL (in another of his excellent performances as an actor). "ENOUGH" ALSO fits in that earlier heavily-drama-laden crime-thriller category. And there are many more others, too. She has done so many crime-thrillers!] 'Nuff said as a review of "PARKER (2013)," "crime-thriller!"

Parker is a tense crime thriller with plenty of action. it won't disappoint fans of Jason Statham and it is well worth the purchase price. There are 5 special features that are both entertaining and worth watching. Three of them investigate Parker, the title character.

Parker exists in 29 stories written by Donald E. Westlake incase your interested. The character is pretty impressive in that he has his code and he abides by it. Statham plays him very straight (unlike Mel Gibson's take in Payback). The story sets it's self up for a big job in the beginning that falls apart after the band of thief's that Parker works with decided to give him two options after their mediocre heist. Parker being the resourceful guy he is skillfully gets back on his feet after being crossed. So the majority of the movie is nothing more than a big set up (similar to Tomas Jane's Punisher) where Parker gets help from a real state woman (Ja Lo). In the process he runs into a hitman which led to one of the better fight scenes I've seen in awhile. In the end Parker gets what he wants (mostly in the way he planed on it) all while sticking to his code.
