Don't waste your time

We contacted Phillips and originally thought it was easily and quickly going to be replaced. After 5 months of calling Phillips every 2 weeks we got a replacement unit. Great! Except the replacement unit didn't read discs either. Now were are fighting with Phillips to get our money reimbursed for the original unit. Never going to buy Phillips again.

Horrible cheap product

Posted by: UFGator555 from Broadlands, VA on 05/06/2013When initially setting it up, I was surprised at how flimsy the headrest mounts were. They are basically cloth straps with a buckle, unfortunately the way the straps attach to the buckles allowing you to tighten them is such that they come loose. Ours just kept falling down until we had to basically dangle them from the top of the headrests.
And then the second screen stopped working entirely after the one use. As other reviewers have stated, the second screen only played audio and no video. I inspected the AV Cable and it did appear very cheap and was actually loose so that could be the problem. Unfortunately you can't buy replacements anywhere.
This is sad because I thought Phillips was one of the better brands, we've had an Insignia portable DVD player that our kids have used for 3 years with no problems.

Died after 3 months

Not worth the money

There were few options when looking for our cross country drive and this seemed to be the best/ more expensive of all the options we had. Beside the wires hanging between the two monitors, the wire hanging down to charge it, the standard definition player, non integrated sound and the cheap mounting system... I bought a pivoting iPad mount and sent the sound thru the cars blue tooth for 1/2 the cost of this player. Ultimately returned the dud purchase.

Horrible product

We liked that it had resume playback so that it picked up where it left off when it was powered down. Worked great for about 5 months, then it stopped recognizing discs. It was replaced with an identical unit. That one lasted for 14 months. Thankfully, I bought the service plan, but now the resume function is not working in the new unit. Phillips insists that it should be. I will be taking this one back, but I will be holding my breath to see how long it lasts. Phillips will not stand behind their product, their rep pretty much told me I was out of luck. I will never buy Phillips again.

Fun while it lasted

While they worked, they kept the girls entertained. Going to buy another set this week, but definitely not this brand.

Installation was very simple because item came with instructional guide. The wiring needed extra attention as of tucking away to avoid becoming tangled. Other than that, this was a great item for the price. My son loves it and it's a great help if you need some "quiet time" while you're on the road.
