What a great DVD player at a good price5

I drive van for a charter school. It is a half hour drive to school and I needed something to occupy my passengers and keep them quiet. This DVD player is awesome !!
I go to the library and get stacks of kids movies and what a peaceful van ride I have now. If a movie ends on the trip, we can then discuss the movie. This beats playing "I spy" a gazillion times.
It is a very simple to operate player - no complicated buttons, which is great for kids. The remote is great, too. I can let one of the older kids have the small remote so no one is messing around with the player unsupervised.
It never skips or freezes - even on the roughest roads.
I also plan to use this camping for those nights when it is raining out and you have played cards long enough !!0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

It seems to work quite well. I have issues with the connector cord coming loose easily (as it is only about 4 feet long and to "hide" it away from kids...between the two seats, is difficult). The picture quality is good.2 out of 2 found this review helpful.

When the second screen stopped working we tried to return product. Could not return product to store as it had been past the 45 day return. Contacted Phillips for 1 year warranty and was told product is not available in warehouse ( still sold in stores). After sending MULTIPLE proof of purchase and 5 emails they offerred to send refund for LESS than we paid for the unit??????? We will NEVER purchase another Phillips product!!! Notice many folks had the same problem. There should have been a recall and they KNOW IT!!!1 out of 4 found this review helpful.

I purchased this DVD to watch dvd's in any country code. You have to search the web and find the site that give you step by step instruction in how to set up your DVD player to zone code 0.

I loved our DVD player for the 4 months that it functioned. The quality was clear, it was easy to use, and the battery life was excellent. After four months, the lens quit acknowledging that a DVD was in the player. I called the Phillips company and the technician instructed me on how to clean it. That did not resolve the problem so they instructed me on how to obtain a replacement. I followed their instructions and they sent me an email informing me that they could not process my request as sent. I resent it according to their specifications, and they now not only won't send a replacement, they won't acknowledge my emails. I will NEVER again buy a Phillips product because of this transaction.2 out of 2 found this review helpful.

This portable DVD player is great for my 4 year olds son. He loves it and use it almost everyday to watch his favorite movies. The picture and sound quality are fabulous. It's easy to use and it also comes with a small remote control. Great look and light weight. I bought it on black Friday 2011, it was a great price $69.99 with excellent quality of the product. I got this product for Christmas and loved it! Unfortunately, after 3 months it just stopped working. It had not been harmed or damaged in any way. It just stopped reading discs. I returned it, and got another one, but the second one would not charge when I plugged it in. So I returned that one and got a 3rd DVD player. I've had it about a week, and so far so good. This would be a great product, but it is probably not very reliable.2 out of 3 found this review helpful.

This is a great product for the money. I was expecting a black one but guess I should've looked closer at the description. The screen is very pixelated but since it was on sale during Christmas I can't complain. Great for Long Trips4

We bought this portable DVD player before a trip to DC. It was great entertainment for our 5 yr old son for the long trip home. We generally have taken a laptop computer but it's too heavy and I was returning by myself so needed a DVD player my son could hold. We were surprised to see that included in the box was a nylon car mount that fastened to the front seat and worked great! It folds up when not in use so it's out of the way. My son is able to work the DVD player by himself which is a big help. It is a little awkward to replace the DVD's. This is because the release to open the player is on the left side and you need to move the mesh netting on the nylon car mount that keeps the player in place and also the on/off and volume switch is on the left side. But he learned quickly and can do it by himself so obviously it is easy to use. I kept this DVD player over the Sony (a bit more expensive). I liked the LED screen better on the Sony but really liked that I didn't need to buy a holder for the car with this Phillips DVD player. We also liked the 9" screen better than the 7". Also included were all the cords you need - charger for house & car. It has been keeping the charge about 4-5 hours. And we have dropped it already, and it's working fine. I did buy the protection plan since we have kids. It was a bit more at Best Buy than other places but we were able to get it last minute and it works great! Also saves about $1100-1500 to install 2 DVD players in the headrests of our new to us (used) Odyssey. I would recommend it! I just saw there are the dual DVD's on sale now (so if you're looking for a portable dvd player, get them on sale!).5 out of 5 found this review helpful.

Bought this for a flight for my children because I couldn't find the battery for my old one. I bought it based on the great reviews. It worked on the way down but for the flight back it would not read my dvds. The screen would say "no disc". I tried 5 different dvds. Thankfully we had it less than 14 days and returned it as soon as we got home!3 out of 10 found this review helpful.

I bought this portable DVD player to use to play my exercise DVDs. I use it on a daily basis and it works fine.The screen's a good size and clear. It comes with a remote and a plugin for an outlet.
My only negative is that I don't believe it uses the plug energy when on - it always uses the battery power. So after a while, it says it needs to be charged, even though it is plugged in. I then just have to turn it off and keep it plugged in to get charged. It's a minor concern though.5 out of 5 found this review helpful.

I bought this for my mom for her birthday just today. She really loved it! Although, I thought it was a bit pricey that the 7" is $40 less than this 9" one. But this dvd player has great picture quality ! The sound is great and it's very pretty in white. I also love that it comes with the car mount thing. Even if you don't have a car, you can use it as a case, it wraps up the dvd player pretty well and it even has a little handle to hold it and straps for securing. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied.6 out of 6 found this review helpful.

So far, so good! Haven't used it too often in the two months I've had it, but it seems to work well. Battery life is good, picture quality is very good, audio is very good. It connects well to other devices to project both picture and sound. I was looking for something basic and durable; the Philips 9" portable DVD player was a good price. And the sale price for the 9" screen was less than I found for most 7" models.4 out of 4 found this review helpful.

Bought the Philips 9" Widescreen TFT-LCD Portable DVD Player for my kids to replace the headrest mountable players we had previously. For $70 and free shipping, it is really worth the money. The 9' screen is much nicer than the 7' we previously had. Now that our kids are well into elementary school, its time to move up from the headrest mount to the lap player. Plus, they can take it with them anywhere with ease. The best feature is the long battery life. I'd rather do without the white case, especially for kids, but its not a deal breaker. The picture quality is good for players of this price, but is certainly not the quality of a high definition IPAD. The sound levels are adequatte for either headphone play or speaker. Don't expect much from the bag that is included. We ended up using a different one that was more durable and had pouches for headphones, cords, etc. Overall good quality, especially for the price.4 out of 4 found this review helpful.
