Used it for my twin girls. They were a little less than 1 when we purchased. Lasted about 13 months and then they said "eff it". Won't even turn on now. While they worked, they kept the girls entertained. Going to buy another set this week, but definitely not this brand.1 out of 1 found this review helpful.

When I received the item I immediately installed inside my vehicle. Installation was very simple because item came with instructional guide. The wiring needed extra attention as of tucking away to avoid becoming tangled. Other than that, this was a great item for the price. My son loves it and it's a great help if you need some "quiet time" while you're on the road.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

I bought them for my wife for Christmas and upon trying to install them in her van, we discovered that the one that holds the DVD didn't power on. Well, I took them back to the store and exchanged them. I went to install the new set and the screen on the opposite monitor has sound, but no picture. I will not be purchasing anymore Philips products of any kind. Back to the exchange department we go.2 out of 2 found this review helpful.

Overall, it is great, but not at $200. Got before Christmas for 1/2 off. If you are going to spend $$ then get the one that plays 2 separate movies at once.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

Missing Parts & Terrible Customer Service!1

Just bought this when it went on sale, get it home & it's missing car power adapter & AV cable to connect the two screens. There is no manual or phone numbers listed anywhere but I did find an internet address for support on the box. I tried the live chat but got no reply. The phone number I found on-line is over seas tech support, very difficult to understand. They eventually told me to either return it or wait 4-6 weeks for parts (after I mail them original receipt, & proof of purchase from packaging). Never again will I buy Philips!2 out of 5 found this review helpful.

I have had these for a little over 2 yrs and have never had any problems with them. My son loves them and it keeps him entertained on long or even short road trips. Most only have a 7" screen, but I purchased these because the screen was a little larger. Great picture quality and sound! A little pricey but worth the $$$.2 out of 3 found this review helpful.

This was a great product until it broke while on a road trip. I don't think we had it over 2 years. I did not expect it to break so soon. It was in use when it broke.....I just can't afford to buy new ones every two years.3 out of 3 found this review helpful.

Average DVD Players3

Overall average set of DVD players. We bought this set originally a year and a half ago for a long car trip where we needed to minimize stops. The setup was okay, picture was good, sound was adequate, and it played DVDs. Basically, it did what we needed it to do. We were pleased to find that, when power is interrupted when the car it turned off, the players will resume the DVD where it was when the power was lost (using the power button will cause the DVD to restart next time).
Control of the players can be difficult at times. We control from the front seat with players on the backs of our headrests. The buttons and wheels are difficult to identify without locating them visually. The buttons are located in different spots between the primary player and the repeater screen, and there is no remote control. This results in frequent errors when attempting to control the video for two small children in the back.
The power cords are relatively short so expect that installation options will be limited in a larger vehicle like a minivan or large SUV. The cord will reach from the front power point to the back of the front seats without issue, but installation on the back of the second row seats is unlikely. Further, routing the cord in an inconspicuous location can be difficult due to the short length.
On durability, the first player lasted about 17 months with occasional use. It failed to where the primary player would continuously spin the DVD but never actually play it. Both screens were still working but the player could no longer read. We had bought the protection plan and were able to replace it. The new DVD players (Aug 2012) had a broken brightness control on the repeater screen with the brightness at full dim. Both players had volume knob issues as well. We exchanged that set for a third set of DVD players that have worked as the first set did for the last couple months. We bought the protection plan again on this set and expect that we will likely have to use it based on the history.
Overall, it is an average set of car DVD players that get the job done. The deficiencies have workarounds that you can live with for the price (and the lack of models on the market that don’t have the same deficiencies). Just be sure to get the geek squad protection for at least 2 years because the failure rates on this item are high.12 out of 12 found this review helpful.
