Use a card reader.Connecting the camera to the computer to transfer your pictures is the slowest, least-efficient way to do the job. It can also be a bit risky because if your camera's batteries die during the transfer, you may lose your photos. So be sure to have a card ready to quickly transfer images to a computer.Resize for e-mail.Create a copy of the photo and re-size it in your editing software to something smaller such as a 600-pixel maximum dimension. Then, it will transfer faster and be viewable without scrolling.Add more RAM.One of the simplest ways to speed up photo and video editing is to add more RAM. If you have more than a casual interest in photography, you should have 1GB of RAM. Serious enthusiasts often have 2GB or more of RAM installed.Edit to black-and-white.In some cases, the color in a scene can be off, or just plain ugly. Try converting that shot to black-and-white.Crop the image. When making an 8 x 10 print, be sure to crop the image. Digital SLRs have a 3 x 2 aspect ratio (frame), which means that a 4 x 6 print will show everything. If you want to make an 8 x 10, you need to crop it that way in editing software. Otherwise, part of the image will be cut off in the printing process.Sharing Photos & Videos Tips & TricksCreate impressive prints, e-mail digital images or display a slide-show on your TV screen. It's easy to share digital photos after they're taken with these helpful hints ranging from archiving to editing. Digital Camera Tips
