Turn your flash off.Sometimes at night you may want to turn the flash off in order to capture what your eye sees. Make sure to brace yourself or use a tripod.Shoot at "golden hours."The light when the sun is low on the horizon (early morning and late in the day), has more color and is usually more pleasing.Use daytime flash. If your subject is in shadow, or the background is brighter than your subject, try turning on the flash during the day to push light into the shady areas.Strike a pose.Don't force your subject into a pose he or she is uncomfortable with. It's often easier to get someone to pose the way you want if you demonstrate first.Bring along a camera.Keep your camera with you as much as possible. You never know where you're going to find that great photo. It might be in the airport, in a cab or on the back of a camel.Hold your shots. When shooting video, try to hold your shots for at least 15 seconds before you pan, zoom or move on to another shot. This ensures having enough video to work with in the editing phase of your workflow.Beware of backlighting. While panning, this often occurs when a bright background enters the frame, making everything and everyone in the foreground very dark. Try locking your exposure on your subjects to prevent silhouetting.Get people in scenes.Even with the best travel scenery, it will always be more interesting to include people in your video. It animates the scene and offers scale and interest to static or panned scenery.Shoot in sequences.Keep in mind that a good ratio to shoot is 50% close-ups, 25% medium shots and 25% wide shots. This technique is much better than trying to shoot your video as one long shot.Shoot B-roll.B-roll refers to all the "other" shots you might need when editing. These might include set-up shots, cutaways, natural sound shots, etc. This background video will give you a number of options to broaden the final video.Beach Shots.Learn some great techniques to take great beach photos.Theme Park Shots.Learn some great techniques to take terrific theme park photos.Outdoor Shots.Learn some great techniques to take terrific outdoor photos.Historic Destinations.Learn some great techniques when taking pictures of historic destinations.Night Pictures.Learn how to take great photos at night.City Pictures.Learn some great techniques to take great city shots.Travel Pictures.Learn some great techniques when taking travel photos.Pictures in the Cold.Learn how to shoot great photos in the cold.Vacations & Travel Tips & TricksA trip to Paris.
