Posted by: mddunner from Minneapolis, MN on 03/25/2013Picked this up for a wonderful price courtesy of the Daily Deal. Wired the coils down to 2ohms and am powering the cone with a MTX TD500-1D. The amp can deliver 500w RMS @ 2ohms, so I've got plenty of power. The sub hits well and sounds clean. I'm waiting to break it in before really pushing it, but so far so good. Running in a sealed box ~.70 cu/ft.
I wish the coil terminals were push-button spring style, but that's not a big deal. Overall, great sub for the price.

Posted by: Tuneup from Southern, IL on 03/04/2013I added this 10" dual coil to my sound system, mounting it with the included Stainless Steel screws, that are allen headed and not Phillips, so you won't slip and polk....er...poke a hole in the speaker, something I have done before. I am using a JL 300/4 amp and it just has sooo much punch! Not muddled bass like you get with some speakers, but hard hitting punch that you can feel in your chest and makes your tunes sound like you are standing in front of the kick drum at a live performance. You want bang for the buck? Look no further. Polk audio is it, and if you have any questions, just call tech support and talk to a live person who speaks good english, who will talk to you like your best friend, not someone who treats you like a dummy.

I personally can't say I've ever heard a subwoofer with more clear un-distorted sound quality. I have 2 in a 2.7cu enclosure with a single port tuned to 34hz on 300rms each. Unbelievable. I'm sold.

All components of my system were originally purchased at Best Buy. The technicians are paid by the hour, not on a commission basis. They have no incentive to cut corners and get the job done faster to hurry on to the next commission. The tech listened to my needs and made suggestions for a compatible matched system. Unless you have personal experience in installations, you should let an experienced tech do this for you. I am a fan of quality-sounding music and this matched system provides outstanding full-range quality sound in my full-sized pickup cab. A factory radio doesn't even come close. Polk Audio is a nationally recognized quality brand and this speaker came on sale which made it a no-brainer.

Clean and tight in the right enclosure ( small sealed ) I am powering two of these with an Alpine V500 mono amp, both in small sealed boxes. Keep in mind these are dual voice coils that are either 8ohm or 2ohm each depending on how there wired! With 2 of these, you will have either 4ohms or 1ohm. Most mono amps are set up to give you the most power at 2ohms, but will not run at a 1ohm load!!!! My amp can produce 500watts at 2ohms, but at 4ohms I'm getting a total of 300watts. ( Which is more than enough for me! ) If you want a 2ohm load with 2 subs, you will want dual 2ohm speakers.
