Worst ever

Posted by: stonemay from Atlanta, GA on 01/21/2013I've bought tow of them, first one blew up after first 5 minutes using, and cause me to blew up my amplifier as well, then I set the second one. This time my installer lowered the power to minimum and worked for 20 minutes.
When I took it to bestbuy store, one of the bestbuy technician told me not to buy polk because it has some factory issues and they were dealing with the same issue for a while.
Therefore, I've got a Alpine, and its awesome !!!

EXCELLENT SPEAKERS BUILT NOT TO LAST.
1
Posted by: 809wiz from Lawrence, MA on 09/22/2012Before anyone judges I think my background should be stated. I am an audiophile and I was looking for something cheap for my commutter car. This thing was great out of the box. Sounded very redefined for a low priced subwoofer. It sounded nearly as good as my kicker L7. The difference between this sub and most others priced around this price range is itss sound feel, this polk audio is like smooth pick up line followed by a smooth drink on the rocks, and everything else is like a hard hitting blur. I owned this subwoofer for 10 months of nonstop use, the reason why I stopped using this was because I sold my beater car. Needless to say that was 14 months ago. I took the subwoofer out in working condition only to notice the speaker shorted out without being touched. If you notice I gave this baby awsome remarks cause it is pretty awsome but as far as it being to last is nothing but a myth. And for those who said you need to break in your subs first before you turn them up, this one was babied and craped out. My advice try at yur own risk and get the best buy insurance/warranty.

Don't know what you will get.

Posted by: rocket71 from Signal Mountain, TN on 09/22/2012I read the reviews on Best Buy and even after reading about all the blown speakers I still took the plunge. It lasted 4 songs before it shorted out. It sounded great for the short while I had it. I think at this time there are quality issues with Polk.

Simply Amazing!

Posted by: gruvin2 from Baltimore, MD on 08/12/2012I've had this sub for just under 2 months and it has only gotten better with time! For any of those saying it blew fast, please read your user manual. It says to play 20-30 hours at moderate levels for the break-in period.
I paired this with a Kenwood 1200watt 5 channel amp so I could power my whole sound system. This sub is VERY efficient with power. The single amp channel is rated at 300 continuous and the sub is rated for 360 RMS. I have the base boost set to 8 of 18db and the input sensitivity is just over 0.5V and low pass filter is set around 110 of 200.
With these tame settings the AMP and the SUB-WOOFER are not being pushed and this thing KICKS HARD! I can see friends hair getting blown with the air current this thing can move. I told the installer I wanted a clean HARD hit with moderate BOOM. I'm not trying to win any competitions or get attention from the police. I couldn't be happier.
I listened to all the competitors subs and this one was "just right" great performance for the price. Sure I could have spent twice as much and gotten more boom but that isn't practical for me.

Exceptional Sound Quality and Value

Posted by: DubKing from Philadelphia, PA on 07/07/2012Three words - Better than Kicker
Five words - Not as loud as Kicker
Folks, this is the bass bomb. However it does not 'limit' you like Kicker does. DXi says 26hz but really goes deeper and Kicker CompVR says 25hz but actually struggles to hit that depth. Both are actually great but that's the difference. Polk's willingness to go deep also means they are easier to damage, this has obviously caused some problems but that's user error and the negative reviews here are all misguided.

Great sounding subwoofer; love the look of it.

Posted by: Huyner from Arlington, Tx on 12/04/2011This sub is in the trunk of my compact sedan being powered by a Kicker ZX400.1 amp that's giving it more power than it needs, about 40watts more according to the specs. I've properly broken it in and tuned and adjusted it to my listening level. I crank it up pretty loud too. Its been about a year now and they are still going strong. No blow-outs or any other problems. The bass isn't the tightest or cleaning you can get, but for what I paid for the subs, it's pretty good value for money, and can still turn heads.
