I would've given 5 stars if there was some way to read what level your listening to. The sound is great but it seems we are constantly adjusting volume to find that "sweet spot" as there are no level indicators. This is getting old, but not necessarily a deal breaker. Near surround sound quality in a sound bar5

I was skeptical about this product, having been a user of a full 6 speaker surround sound system for years. Unfortunately, however, the surround sound system, after many years of use, became old and brittle, just like me. The hookup of this sound bar was easy and straightforward, using the supplied optical connector from the bar to my new HD TV. After reading the instructions, I positioned the bar in front of the TV, and located the sub in a corner of the room, as suggested. I turned on the TV, and in a few seconds the sound bar was active. All I could say was WOW!!! The sound filled the room with a near surround sound quality. Only the most discerning audiophiles would complain about the sound. The base is deep and responsive, and the voice was perfect, with good separation. You can adjust the volume of the bar, and the sub independently, which makes the sound that much more realistic. For those who prefer to hear the deep bass tones of a action adventure movie, or the softness of the spoken word, in a romantic comedy, you can easily adjust the sounds to suit your tastes. Programming the bar to respond to your TV's remote is quick and simple, if you first read the instructions. I recommend this product for those of you who do not want to deal with all the wires associated with a full surround sound system, or the cost of such a system. I believe you will be surprised at the outstanding sound quality, and ease of use of this product.4 out of 4 found this review helpful.

Love this wireless speaker system. Works well with our 55" TV and has excellent quality. Placed the sub woofer according to instructions and reviews I read. I have not had one problem with it. Base level can be overpowering when watching with some movies. At times the base can be heard on the second floor. Great speaker system for the price.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

Good sound in a small package4

I bought this for use with our 60" wall mounted TV, which, like most new flat panels, has an awesome picture but pretty bad sound. It does exactly what I wanted, providing a tremendous improvement over the TV, and the Polk sound is better than the typical consumer brands. The bar and wireless sub work great together.
I've seen people trying to replace a 5.1 component system with these. As most knowledgeable people will confirm, the most basic component system will sound much better than any sound bar. There's only so much you can do with a couple of 3" speakers. This one is no exception to that rule, but for great TV sound in a simple package, it does the job. Just don't be expecting a surround experience. Even with the optical connection and the bar indicating 5.1, it's just basic sound, but it's good sound. BTW, it has just one optical input, so if your TV does not pass 5.1 from other connected devices like Blu-ray players, you'll only get stereo on the bar.
Buy it when it's on sale at $399. At the $499 list price, it's a bit expensive for what it is.0 out of 0 found this review helpful.

My Polk Audio soundbar geeked out about 40 days after I bought it and completely died in another 10 days or so. I spent another $30 sending it back to their california repair site several weeks ago and I haven't seen it since or even heard anything from them.
I'm out $400 now and have nothing. Do yourself a favor and buy something reliable instead. Failing that, flush the money down the toilet so at least you won't expect decent warranty support or your money back.1 out of 2 found this review helpful.

Great sound. Been using an onkyo receiver with Bose speakers for the past four years. Wanted to get rid of the clutter and boy is this system awesome. Better sound than my much more expensive system and it all fits nicely in my tv cabinet. Got it on sale for $399. Can't beat that.1 out of 1 found this review helpful.
