Synopsis

A high school football coach finds himself fighting for stakes much higher than the State Championship in this drama based on actual events. In 1971, a court order forces three high schools in Alexandria, Virginia (two white, one African-American), to integrate their student bodies and faculties for the first time. As a result, Coach Bill Yoast (Will Patton), longtime head coach of the T.C. Williams High School football team, is asked to step down, and Herman Boone (Denzel Washington) is appointed to replace him as the school's first black faculty member. The new coach is hardly welcomed with open arms, either by the school's staff or the students, and the newly integrated team is full of players (both black and white) who have little trust or respect for one another. But Boone is determined to put a winning team on the field -- it's how he approaches the game, and his future depends on it. Against long odds, Boone helps his team overcome distrust and misunderstanding of their coach (and each other) as they become a gridiron force to be reckoned with. Remember the Titans also features Nicole Ari Parker, Kate Bosworth, and Jerry Brandt, and was produced by action-film kingpin Jerry Bruckheimer. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Posted by: from Chester, pa on 10/13/2008this movie brings together a kalediscope of talented actors to portray the legacy of the titans. I don't see how they would be forgotten. Denzel brings his team together to fight for their spirit, and of course his job. The one minute that Coach Boone loses one game his head coaching job goes back to the former head coach. True family movie.

Posted by: from Michigan on 07/29/2008This is a very touching movie which takes during the time the segregtion of the blacks and whites. It shows that teamwork can go a long way. The one football team is able to bring an entire town together and change the minds of many people and how the react to the intergretion of blacks in white schools. It is a great lesson and inspiring for any athlete.

Posted by: from Canyon Lake, CA on 03/11/2008This is a wonderful movie about a young, black coach getting spit in the face over him coaching a football team. The team, combined of both whites and blacks, hate each other. But with time and Denzel's hard work, they get along like family.

A Great Inspirational Movie

Posted by: from Dahlonega, GA on 10/07/2007This is one of the Best inspirational movies I've seen in quite a long time. Based on a True Story of Race Intigration in the School in the early 70's in Virgina, "Remember the Titans" shows that if you work as a team, there is nothing that can't be overcome. I highly recomend this movie to anyone weather they like Football or not.

Another Classic for Denzel

Posted by: from Dallas (Oak Cliff), Tx on 09/15/2007Anything Mr. Washington touches is just golden, and this movie is the same...Gold. Its really hard to believe how a talented actor like Denzel Washington is only nominated for an Oscar when he plays a slave or a bad cop, but for a movie like this he gets nothing. I'm not trying make it a consipracy, but what the does he have to do. This movie just might bring you to tears, to see what these guys go from fighting each other to fighting racism on and off the gridiron.
