The people who've panned this product either have inferior equipment they're linking it to or they don't know how to use the product correctly.
Kudos to Rocketfish for producing the Stereo Headset Adapter because it far exceeds my expectations.

It's not stereo

Posted by: golferchick from South Dakota on 11/05/2012I am really disappointed in this product. It says it's Stereo, but when I try to play music from my phone, it only plays out of one ear (mono). This is a pretty simple product and I am disappointed that it doesn't work as advertised.

A Case of Mistaken Identity!

It is NOT engineered to be a stereo cable for listening to music. It is a 1 speaker and 1 mic adapter used for mono cell phone headsets that need to be converted from a 3.5mm jack to a 2.5mm jack. This works on MOST cell phones. NOT iPod, or cells that require a proprietary headset cable. Conductors: 3 prong; 1st: Speaker (Mono=1); 2nd: Mic (Mono); 3rd: Ground (Used by both 1st and 2nd conductors). Left speaker, right speaker and mic conductors follow an industry standard for placement along the shaft of mm jacks. This is why people buying this for stereo listening have to partially pull out. Which causes unreliable audio connection. They are partially aligning the Right speaker and Mic conductors.

However, IF it actually works when I plug it in I only get sound out of one side of my headphones for about 3 seconds and then it stops. I have to twist it and constantly unplug and plug back in. I will be returning this item shortly!

Only got sound through left speakers. In order to get both speakers to work I had to plug the aux cable halfway into this adapter. Even then the connection was loose and cutting in and out (which is annoying by the way). Dont buy this unless you are deaf in your right ear

When plugging this in, and then plugging my headphones in, the feedback noise from my headphones would make my phone think I am trying to enter a voice command, and when locked it will try to unlock the phone to do a voice command. When listening to music, I have to take the plug halfway out in order for it to play from both, but then the slightest tug on it will remove them completely. Not a great buy.
