One still works, the other does not and there is only a 90 day manufacture warranty...guess I should have bought the extended. My kids love them and I'm going to get stuck purchasing another :/

Had a little problem with the set up when I first got it, but a quick Live Chat with technical support took care of that. ( Turns out I installed the batteries to the remote backwards, duh).

Great stream box for the price

Not having a keyboard on the remote, or at least on the Roku Remote Android App, makes signing in, filling out forms or search a very time consuming task. The box freezes every once in a while, but not enough for me to get upset about. There is an update coming soon, I am hoping that the update will fix that issue.

Very good streaming device & good value

Posted by: PastaBrain34 from Arizona on 04/13/2013This Roku player is really a great functioning streaming device. It played a large role for me "cutting the cord" last year. I have mine hard wired with an ethernet cord running from it to my router so I can't vouch for the wireless functionality. It supports a number of apps including Amazon instant video, Netflix, and Vudu. It's capable of 5.1 surround sound too provided you have it hooked up with HDMI and your program supports it. It's easy to use and has tons of channels (most of which are useless to me but I imagine you'll find some that are interesting like I did). The set up is a breeze, particularly if it's hard wired.
On the downside the customer service via chat was poor. I had some technical questions and they appeared to have basic generic responses that were barely related to my questions. They also seemed disinterested to find out additional info.
Overall I'd recommend this product but good luck with the service if you need it though.

Perfect product for streaming

Posted by: atki5599 from Oregon on 04/12/2013I love Roku players! I wanted a device that would let me stream movies, TV shows, and music through my TV so I had a viewing option besides my laptop. I am not into video games so spending the money to buy an expensive gaming system would not have been worth it for me. That's why the Roku is perfect! It lets me stream content from all the channels I wanted (including music on Pandora) without a hefty price tag. It's affordable and the small box doesn't take up a lot of space. I highly recommend a Roku for anyone who wants a great STREAMING device!

I have since bought 4 additional Rokus and have sold my Apple TV 2. The availability of apps is great, and I have yet to find one that isn't available. Here are the major ones that I love and use all of the time.
-Netflix
-Amazon
-MLB
-Plex (allows me to stream content from my local computer running Plex server)
-Time Warner Cable
-Pandora
There isn't an app that I have found for streaming audio and video that this box doesn't offer. Its small size is great for mounting on TVs.
There are two items that would be great to offer on a future version of these boxes:
-A lightweight web browser. I travel for work and I like to bring the Roku with me. Most hotels require you to log into a browser to join their wireless networks. This makes the Roku unusable in these situations.
- A remote mount IR target. I have my Rokus mounted on the underside of my TVs. I would rather mount these to the back of the TV, but the IR can't be received then. If there was a way to plug an IR target into the Roku and then stick it to the front of the TV, that would be great. Another option would be an RF based remote.
Overall the Roku is a great device and I have been converted from an Apple TV guy over to Roku.

perfect for those without gaming devices
