Wireless speaker transmitter has been discontinued1

I don't watch a lot of movies, but listen to a lot of music. I love Slacker Radio (it's free, you just have to connect the home theater system to the internet), although Slacker needs a classic reggae/ska station. My iPod classic (120 gb 6 gen) plugged into to the usb port works great - I can control my iPod with the home theater system's remote control, although album and song lists are not displayed on the TV screen. For the price, I think music sounds great coming through the front speakers and the subwoofer. My one major complaint is that Sony has discontinued the wireless speaker transmitter (EZ-WT100) and is not selling an updated product to replace it. So, if you want wireless rear speakers (either as a standard feature or as an add-on), you better look for another home theater system. I gave the product one star overall because I bought it at a Best Buy store in December 2010 and have been saving up money to add the optional rear wireless speaker accessories (EZ-WT100 and WAHT-SA20). However, five months later (May 2011) Sony has discontinued the the wireless speaker transmitter and retailers are no longer selling it.4 out of 23 found this review helpful.

I have been doing research on All in One Home Theater systems for about 2 months. After going back and forth between a HTiB and just a nice receiver, I decided on this one and am very happy with my purchase. I bought this on sale for $250 (reg price $400) and that was the deal closer for me.
I bought a Sony DAV-C770 Dream System back in 2002. That system worked great after many moves and room changes but I felt that it was time to upgrade my system to meet todays technology.
So here we go with the good:
Sound - superb. I never knew what i was missing until i hooked this up. You hear EVERYTHING, little sounds that I would barely hear with the Dream system. The surround really feels like things are moving around you if that makes sense. Loud as Hell and sound at high levels is not distorted.
Looks - sleek design, High Gloss piano black finish. Physical buttons on the receiver. Most people may prefer touch sensitive buttons, which is fine, but I personally mistrust those. I always feel like touch buttons will stop working after a couple years.
Setup - 1 word: Easy. Once you get it out of the box, setup is a cinch. I was worried that it only has 1 HDMI output and no HDMI inputs. I have a 47" Insignia LCD that has 3 HDMI ports on it. So I have All my components hooked up to the TV; Comcast cable/DVR box, Ps3, Ps2, Sony Home Theater, Wii, and a 360. All these run to the receiver on the TV function with no issues and as an added bonus, I don't have to switch functions on the receiver depending on the component I am using, except for the Blu-Ray movies. As for the code for my Comcast remote, since my old system was a Sony, I didn't need to change the code even though my old system is from 2002.
Features - Tons. Major focal points: Netflix, Pandora radio, YouTube, Hulu Plus. Lots more, really too many to list. 6 sound fields to choose from. 3D ready. USB port for media or iPod. Comes with a calibration mic. Many more features, see the product details if you're interested in finding out what else this has to offer.
I have only set up Netflix and Pandora with this. It was fairly easy. The system will give you an address to go to on the web and you need to create a Sony account which is very simple. Then you plug in your Netflix/Pandora account info and the supplied code and Boom! All set and ready to go!
Now the drawbacks.
Wires - Like other reviewers stated, the wires could definitely be longer. If you have a larger size room, you may run out of length. This could be remedied by splicing in additional wires.
Wire plugs - Where the wires plug into the back, they look like they should click in like ethernet or phone wires, but they don't snap in. This isn't too big of an issue since generally the system stays put.
Design - The high gloss finish, while looking sleek, is a magnet for finger prints and dust. If like me, you have a very dust-prone household, be prepared to wipe the dust off the face of the receiver and speakers at least every few days.
Speakers - Personal preference, but i wish the front and rear speakers were a cube design like my previous Sony DAV-C770. However, I do like the center speaker design.
Remote - The range isn't so great. If you are not pointing at the receiver or at an angle, it is not very responsive. Even a slight obstruction may cause it not to respond.
Menu - While the menu is the same design as Ps3 and PsP, it is not as fluid as those. Movement seems a bit choppy to me.
Netflix - No search feature. Ps3 also did not have this feature at first. Hopefully there will be a firmware update that adds this.
Price - As I stated, I paid $250 for this which is an awesome deal. The regular price is $400. At 850 watts, no wireless for the Receiver, and no wireless rear speakers, there may be other systems slightly more expensive that will include some of these features plus have a wattage of at least 1000. I honestly don't think there is a ton of difference between 850 and 1000 watts. You can buy an adapter to make the rear speakers wireless but for $400, I feel that could have been standard. I probably would not have bought this if it wasn't on sale. Wait for it to go on sale again.
Final thoughts - Even with the negatives, this is a great system. On sale, the price is untouchable for what you get. The system is easy to use, even my wife jumped right in and started using it without me giving her directions. She is pretty technically proficient though.
I am very satisfied with it. This is my first review so sorry if its a little long but I am so impressed, I had to write a review. I use the reviews on this site so often I figured I would put my 2 scents in.104 out of 107 found this review helpful.

This unit has great sound and is very nice looking! Matches well to my Sony 55" HDTV. Quick setup guide was not very clear so take your time and look in the user manual. Once I found the correct connection for audio with my equipment it works beautifully. Plenty of speaker wire for my family/entertainment room. Easy to set up and easy to use. I am a a 56 yr old female and I installed this up myself!
We love sports so it sounds like you are in the game!! Movies are great too!21 out of 21 found this review helpful.

being my first surround system and blue ray it has been an espectacular experience... i have this going to my digital projector directly to the wall and it looks very good... sound is incredible, every effect sounds in place... receiver is kind of big compared to phillips or other brands... i connected ipod and sounds good from the front USB slot.. connected a USB stick and played some mp3's with no problem... I tried to watch some movies from the USB stick on .AVI format but didnt worked.. I beleive the version for Canada is the one that has that capability.. I wish it ran the .AVI files.... but anyways I can burn them into DVD's anyways... haven't connected to the internet but will do shortly... planning to get Netflix through this receiver.... connected my DJ setup (Behringer BCD3000) through the RCA jacks of the received and sounded bit weird when playing around with the DJ thing... I guess i was doing a lot of effects and bass adjustments at the same time therefore sound was saturated.. can't complain.. accidentally dropped the right surround speaker from the top of my refrigerator 6' high where I palcedd it initially and it didn't broke still sounds good... very happy it survived my drop test...11 out of 15 found this review helpful.

This system is really great. It was easy to set up and get started. The WiFi works perfectly. We watch Netflix all the time with no problems. We didn't want to spend $80 on that wireless Sony adaptor, so we ran an ethernet cable directly to the router (I think it was the Rocketfish Network Cable. It was in the computer deptartment, not the audio/tv stuff). It was a small fraction of the cost of the LAN thingy. My husband just drilled a hole through the wall where the router was so there are no wires laying around.
It's not wireless, of course, but the wires included were just enough to go from one side of the room to the other without going straight through the middle of the room. The wires run along two full walls of our living room which is a pretty big room.3 out of 6 found this review helpful.

I am very well pleased with my Bravia Blue Ray Home theater System by Sony. The price was very affordable. The sound is quite satisfying considering the price that I paid at Bestbuy. I have had it installed by the GeeekSquad. It is perfect for my Samsung C55 3D LED LCD HDTV. I would recommend anyone to go to BestBuy first if you are shopping for a Home Theater System.6 out of 13 found this review helpful.

Netflix on this device will only show your instant queue, no browsing or searches. It can not compare to the netflix setup on a 360. For 850 watts I think I have had more power from a Apex brand surround sound. For the money it isn't too bad.6 out of 7 found this review helpful.

This surround sound system has more than outdone my expectations, especially considering I paid 250.00 for it. The sound is very good for a small to medium size room and the picture is ideal. Our living room is approximately 20x20 and it fills the entire room plus some. The cables are a little bothersome and it takes some time setting the system up, but once you're done it is well worth it. I would suggest buying one with built in Wi-Fi if available. Great product though and the price is unbeatable.3 out of 3 found this review helpful.

We are thrilled with this system. While there aren't a lot of included bells and whistles (wireless rear speakers, integrated wifi), they are available and work well when you put forth the extra $ to get them. This system is being used in a room with limited space and is great.
The only drawback is that if you have an older HD TV, as we do, the setup isn't near as easy without HDMI. It was something we were able to work around but we aren't able to run out PS3 or XBox through it...at least until we get a different TV.4 out of 5 found this review helpful.

they give just enough wire for a small room which is exactly what i have anyways. the bravia sync works ok, sometimes it doesnt always turn on. the dvd quality is awesome along with the bluray player. its ability to automatically go to dolby digital 5.1 is great condidering i play my netflix from my ps3 to my sony 46" then to my surround system. the only down fall is it is slow to wake up when i turn the tv on with the bravia sync it takes maybe 25 or 30 seconds to befin broadcasting audio. if i leave it on standbye mode it doesnt always want to wakeup with the tv. other than that it sounds great and can fill my living room to the max. i have rhe bass turned all the way down so that my apt neighbors dont mind. great unitand would buy again6 out of 8 found this review helpful.

I bought this for my in-laws basement and it works terrific. I setup the speaker location as per the manual. You really need to get the speaker location correct for any surround sound system and the calibration completed. I was able to hide all the wires in the false ceiling with no problems. I even ran about 75 feet of Ethernet cable for the internet programs. Cable connections are so much faster so no need for wireless when you can do it yourself.
For sound quality this is a very nice system. We listened to Andrew Bocelli with great joy of the system. With a Blu-ray playback is great as always.
I do like the menu of the system as it has the look and feel of the PS3.6 out of 6 found this review helpful.

I purchased this unit for the internet capability because I subscribe to Netflix. I have an apartment and I like the small size speakers. I didn't connect the surround sound speakers because the layout of my living room wouldn't allow for me to use them without having wires running across the middle of the floor. However, there is a wireless option which I may look into. My only complaint is the incompleteness of the instructions in connecting the components. It took me several hours to figure out how to get my tv to play through the speaker system. The instructions are vague if a person has not had alot of experience. I ended up using a digital audio cable which I happened to have from some other component I purchased in the past. Once I connected that everything fell into place. I am impressed with the sound and after playing with the menu, it is now easy to use. Overall, I would recommend this unit. I feel the price is a good value.16 out of 25 found this review helpful.

NO DLNA2

This will stream video from paid subscription services but it will NOT stream home movies or your music collection from a media server in your house. What a waste. All the other models in this lineup DO support media servers (DLNA): BDV-E870 / E570 / E470 / T57 / T37 except for the BDV-E370 does NOT support DLNA. Obviously it can stream content so why can't I stream my own content? I'll be returning this.20 out of 40 found this review helpful.

This system delivers what is advertised and is a good product for the money. The set up is very simple and fast. Very good sound quality for 850w. The only problem I found was that there is no "video in" option and no HDMI input for the surround sound. This can make it difficult to connect gaming systems to the surround sound. This can be accomplished by purchasing additional audio cables or one fiber optic cable.10 out of 12 found this review helpful.

My last Sony unit finally died after 8 years and several moves. I searched online and decided to go with this unit. The setup is easy, as everyone else has mentioned. The sound is good, the only real issue is the need for a wifi adapter. I was under the assumption the system was WiFi ready. The other issue is when connecting my MP3 player to the usb port the system says it is unrecognizable.
For playing movies and listening to music this system is good. If you are looking for a seriously high end system, look somewhere else. This is good for most average households, and I would highly recommend10 out of 13 found this review helpful.
