Good Product, But Priced WAY TO HIGH

Posted by: from Woodridge, IL on 03/29/2013Sale Price was $699. Bought it open box for $97 + Tax. At that price I really can't complain at all, however if I were to pay $400-$700 for the system I would be quite disappointed at how it recreates sound. The BluRay and visual components are great, however I primarily use the system to listen to music at Work. The system does however have a Large sound to it. I prefer my Sony at home for it's sonic qualities, however this system gets almost twice as loud as the comparable sony model at home. Overall I would not buy this product if it was at full price, or even an open box price at $500. Luckily I negotiated the system down to $97 so I don't feel that bad about the sound quality that I am getting. The system (acoustically speaking) performs as a $300 system would expect to perform.

    Great! But.

Posted by: from Plymouth, MI on 03/08/2013I love this sound system and have had no problems. I only hope that I'm just having a problem figuring out how to use my galaxy s3 with it. Considering Samsung makes both I should be able to sync the two devices. But overall I love the quality. I will edit my review if anything changes.

    Great Surround Sound

Posted by: from Northern NJ on 01/31/2013I bought this as an open box item and couldn't be happier. The setup is easy and very straight forward. The sound and bass response are great. I was thinking that I may have to upgrade the sub, but after hearing it I am more than happy. The system automatically turns off internal audio and the automatic input selection is awesome when connected to my Samsung TV. I would have liked the option to connect the rear speakers directly to the receiver because I had a bad experience with one of their cheaper models.

Replacement for ten year old surround system

Posted by: from St. Paul Park, MN on 01/26/2013System performs good. Rear speakers have a wireless hub but have to be wired from hub to actual speakers. The sound is great when used with a blu-ray disk but is lacking with ordinary DVDs or when used as sound for things like streaming movies or cable/satellite television.

    Crisp clear\clean Sound

Posted by: from Sacramento, CA on 01/25/2013Glad I decided to buy this system. The audio is very clear. Bass is a bit weak. Its a magnet for fingerprints & dust. Definitely wall mount the speakers if you have kids. There are no speaker covers.

    has everything you need

Posted by: from florida on 01/05/2013i dont understand the bad reviews on this, i am no expert but when you can play all your music from your phone through your home theater without plugging it in, or look at all of your photos wirelessly and have great sound watching movies on a great blue ray player and you have single buttons for netflix and pandora, and you have unlimited app downloads in a built in wifi system that calibrates the speakers for you, whats not to like? the vacuum tubes look great with that orange glow, nice touch, and it has a browser, and you tube and vudu, and hulu 3, and it mows the lawn and does the laundry....okay okay not all of that is true, but one can dream eh? its a GREAT surround sound system, 10 times better than the one it replaces thats only 2 yrs old, it can access all devices that are connected to your home network....so i ask again? whats not to like?...look, if your the average consumer, its what you need, you dont need to be a rocket scientist to figure it out, set up is easy, color coded wires, and yes, two hdmi inputs are enough, the output goes to your hd tv, so you have two other inputs spare, remember the bluray player is built in so no input needed for that, so plug in your ps3 or xbox or whatever you like :)

Excellent sound, slowwww blu-ray player interface
    3
Posted by: from on 01/01/2013I bought this system for my sister as a xmas gift and set it up for her, too. Connecting the speakers to the blu-ray player was straightforward. Configuring the sound levels initially relies on you placing the wired mic that it comes with, which you should place in your ideal watching sweet spot away from the TV, then letting the automated sound level configurator (or whatever it's called) do its job. And now for the speakers and blu-ray player... But first, let me say that I have mixed feelings about recommending this system. Would rather the reader decide on his/her own, but since it's a required field for reviews, I picked no because though the speakers have great sound, I wish it came with a better blu-ray player. I would highly recommend the speakers themselves. They're not top-of-the line (compared to more, um, "hard core" or audio afficionado types, but then that's like comparing apples to oranges), but these are pretty good for consumer audio. I must confess that it kicks my Sony surround system's bootie (though that one is an older consumer audio model). I picked this speaker model instead of the lower priced Samsung models (which came with the same blu-ray DVD player) because over all it sounded more impressive in the store. Also, I do have to say this Samsung set of speakers sounded more impressive than the comparable Sony speakers, though the Sony systems cost less. What I do NOT recommend is the Samsung blu-ray DVD player it came with. You'd think that Samsung was trying to get rid of this particular blu-ray player model by selling it along as a bundle. HUGE mistake, Samsung! The Sony blu-ray DVD player I own (Sony 3D Wi-Fi Built-In Blu-ray Player BDPS590) kicks this one's bootay! Sony's interface is much easier to navigate. The Sony's remote control is simpler and more straightforward, even just to look at. Also, the response time for navigating the interface or even loading disc content is more immediate. Unfortunately it's tough not to be impatient when we live in a world where instant gratification is a given. Plus, if you're used to other yet similar things that aren't THIS slow to respond to begin with, you'd lose your patience, period. My sister's on vacation and have yet to watch a blu-ray movie on her new Samsung system, but I would imagine that she would also be impressed with the sound, but irritated by how slow the blu-ray player is, too. If it bothers her enough, she might even ask me to exchange for something else instead, like the Sony system I considered instead of this. I bought this system for the quality of the speakers first and foremost, and not so much the blu-ray player. I did read the reviews that criticized the player's interface, too, and thought, "It can't be that bad, I'll see for myself." Now that I know, my bottom line is: if you want great sound, you'll be happy with this system, but if you'd prefer to have great sound AND a great blu-ray player that isn't so slow to load, this isn't for you. Maybe I should complain to Samsung directly and have them replace the blu-ray player... =P

Not all that is says it is.

Posted by: from Rockford, IL on 12/02/2012They sell this as a full browser but it isn't. It doesn't support flash videos which is most of the web. My wireless keyboard worked on it so that was good but needs a USB that doesn't require a door to be left open. I know that the rear speakers do need power but they should be individually powered. The way it is with this system you still have speaker wire running across the floor. Sound is barely a step above a cheap sound bar.

A little pricey, but worth it.

Posted by: from SEBRING, FL on 11/09/2012This is my first surround sound system so take my comments as such. Sound is very good, but you must setup manually as auto adjust is not accurate. Takes a while to get speakers and settings right but very nice once done. Shows, sports and movies in 5.1 are awesome. Worth the money. Be aware, rear speakers are wired to a wireless receiver. They are not completely wireless but do the trick none the less with good sound.

    Great for music

Posted by: from Tx on 10/21/2012I upgraded from my bose cinemate II to this system, I hated not being able to hear dialog when watching a movie. After having it 2 weeks I started finding faults, Samsung put too much features into this product sometimes when you watch a movie you just want to press play not toggle with all the different types of sound. We watched our first movie and noticed the dialog during action signs seemed to get lower it was going from high to low pitch which was unbearable! Couldn't figure which setting was making this happen and even resettled to factory format, the next day I returned it for a Sony 790w, going to give it a try. With the Samsung music does sound good not as much bass as the bose but its enjoyable.
