    A suite packed with options for videophiles

This bluray is a great purchase because it allowed me to integrate the SmartTv suite to my plasma and separate bluray viewing from my pS3. The quality is fantastic. Blurays look amazing. The unit is relatively silent when it plays. Installation was very easy, it's truly plug and play. There was an update required upon installation, but I figured there would be. The downside to this unit is how unbelievably slow the response time is with the controller. In this state of the art, you would figure the icon would move with every tough of the button as fast as you press. Oh no, not with this unit. A button press is followed by a delay which can be mind numbing. You get used to it, but this is something you shouldn't have to get used to. One great feature on the controller however is the Netflix button. No matter what part of the SmartTv suite you are using, this button takes you direct to the Netflix program. Nice addition. If you want to make your tv Smart, this is a great option. Just be prepared for some lag.

    Posted by: from Colfax, wi on 04/01/2013My first tip: plug in a mouse! The reason I purchased this specific player was mainly for the web browser. After much research, I was saddened to find that I was not able to stream movies through the browser. :( If you would like to check e-mail, or surf the web, this will work. Streaming movies through the browser will only get you about 10 minutes into any given movie and then the browser will close. The browser itself has too small of memory for streaming. If you would like to use many of the apps (netflix, vudu, hulu, etc) plug in a mouse! It is really annoying trying to move the mouse icon using the remote. Keyboard would be a plus too, however, there is only one USB port on the Blu-ray player itself. Stick with the mouse. Using the Apps we find movie watching great, streams at real time and we do not get any slow loading or stopping mid movie. If you do not have a roku box, wii, ps3, then this will work, however, we find we just do not use the features anymore since it is easier to navigate on the WII.

    Posted by: from Ann Arbor, Michigan on 03/21/2013I looked for a long time for replacement for my previous Samsung BD Player. None of them had all the features I wanted or had a myriad of issues. While my previous Samsung BD-P2500 was one of the first with Netflix it had alot of issues with recognizing BD discs after awhile. So when I read the reviews of this all of them seemed to be like my previous Samsung in all having a very common failure. So i was skeptical with this unit. Ease of setup was less than 5 minutes, my only complaint is after I finished the setup I could not get a Bluray to play. it was not clear that you had to power down the unit prior to watching a BD for the first time. Other than that it performs flawlessly. Netflix intergration is exactly like the PS3 Netflix browser which is a plus over the previous Samsung BD player with very little lag. Smart Hub is cool but I have a Smart Samsung TV so it is lost on this TV but would be great for someone with an older TV that wanted that feature without buying a new TV.
