This TV is an absolute steal at less than $700. Unbelievable color accuracy and some nice advanced settings make this set an unbeatable deal for cinephiles and gamers, as well as average joes looking for the best possible deal on a decently sized TV.
I admit that I've always preferred plasma to LCD, primarily because of their color reproduction and crisp motion. LCD sets are improving, but they're still nowhere near as impressive. Yes, LCDs often appear brighter, but they can't touch the picture quality of a plasma (and what's brighter in the store is usually harsh and washed out at home). Most of the old myths about plasma no longer hold true: the picture is rich and bright, image retention is essentially nonexistent, and the set is much lighter and thinner than expected.
On the outside, the PN51F5300 has a nice thin bezel and a stylish spider-type stand. It's remarkably thin -- perfect for wall mounting.
This TV does not include any "smart" features. Historically, these platforms tend to fall flat and quickly end up unsupported, so don't let the lack of Internet connectivity turn you off. Just plug in an Apple TV or a PS3 and you're all set. The lack of smart features was actually a selling point for me.
I've been able to think of only three tiny complaints. First, plasmas still tend to buzz a little bit, especially when the screen is mostly bright/white. This is common to all plasmas. Not a big deal to me, but apparently it drives some people nuts. Second, only two HDMI ports. Admittedly, I'm the type of guy who wishes every set came with ten. It's a tiny gripe easily remedied by a receiver or a cheap switch. Third, and this goes for every TV anymore, the speakers aren't great. They're better than most, believe it or not, but you'll still want an external speaker system or a decent soundbar.
These complaints, however, are completely insignificant when you consider what an excellent TV this is. Again, picture quality is where this set shines. Deep, inky blacks, pure whites, and extraordinary color accuracy combined with crystal-clear motion make this set an incredible value. To get the most out of it, get it calibrated by the Geek Squad, or at the very least pop in a THX disc to tweak the settings a bit. It's a gorgeous 1080p set that costs hundreds less than a comparable LCD. Long story short, this is an awesome TV for dirt cheap. Honestly, I'd have paid twice as much for this set without hesitation. Oh -- and the remote is lit :-)- Internet Connectable? : No

The image quality is stunning. Vibrant and accurate color representation with deep saturation and contrast without being harsh and overly bright like some LED equivalents. The refresh rate is good, with minimal to minor ghosting, still better than your average LED. As the set ages and the phosphors mellow a bit im sure this will improve. I would highly recommend this set, I am so happy with this purchase. Amazing image quality for a no frills bargain TV set.- Internet Connectable? : No

This TV has terrible ghosting, especially for a plasma. Picture is not smooth while watching action scenes, sports, or while playing video games. It was especially bad when gaming. It was to the point that even minimal movement from left to right in first person perspective would essentially show double the image. 600hz is very misleading. Looked more like my old 60hz. I had to take it back the same day I purchased it.2 out of 12 found this review helpful.

I am extremely impressed with this Plasma. My number one priority was picture quality. This plasma far exceeded my expectations in that department. I have an LCD and an LED/LCD as well. I have no complaints about the others tv's, but this Plasma is far superior for picture quality. The rich blacks, contrast, and deep color saturation are amazing while the video processing is extremely smooth.
I wanted a TV for the bedroom and this one is perfect. During my search, I returned a Panasonic LED and a Vizio LED. Both were smart tv's that failed to impress. I decided to try this Samsung plasma and it hit a home run with the picture quality. Again, that was my number one goal. I'll buy a Western Digital Live Hub streaming device and couple it with this plasma because it far outperformed both the Vizio and Panasonic onboard streaming services. I also hooked up a Samsung HW-C450 sound bar for superior sound quality.
My only complaint is the lack of HDMI ports. This plasma has TWO. That still has me scratching my head and asking, "why only two"? However, I can easily make it work. It does have a good amount of glare from lights and windows, but that is inherent with plasma. It's not a big deal for me because I can control my room lighting/windows.
Do yourself a favor and give this Plasma a try. You will not be disappointed.- Internet Connectable? : No

I returned a Samsung LED (e-6000's series) for this plasma. I am amazed that there was almost no need to calibrate this tv. The picture, while dimmer than LED, still looks amazing and hundred times better than the 6000 series. I am not a fan of how Samsung categorizes their screen class. However, we did not want a internet or a 3D TV and due to our room we could not go past 51 inches. This plasma costs about 150 less than the LED and looks so much better. Dynamic for day, Standard for night. That simple. The only thing that would make it better was if the whites were less grey but that is the trade off for plasma over an LED.- Internet Connectable? : No
