    Posted by: from Utah on 04/04/2013Setting up took about 10 minutes including removing it from the box. The wireless connections worked great. It connected to my home Wi-Fi with no problems. Updates were downloaded and installed in just a few minutes. The picture is incredible. It took almost no effort to get the settings right. The 3D leaves a bit to be desired, but I have watched a number of 3D TVs and I have yet to really be impressed by one. It works, and it isn't that it looks bad, but the effects are not as intense as you get in a theater. The upside of the 3D feature is you get 4 pair of glasses where most 3D TVs only give you 2 to start with. The smarthub is great. Downloading apps is easy. I recommend a keyboard if you plan to use it for internet surfing. I have not had a lot of luck with the sound or motion controls. I have several children and I find it doing things I don't want it to because is senses the kids moving, or making a little noise. I just turned those features off and haven't really felt too upset about it. My only big complaint is only having 3 HDMI inputs. I have 3 game systems, a DVR, and a Bluray player. I had to buy a switch for the games to get them all hooked up.

Integrated well with new Pioneer AV and Samsung Blue Ray Disk Player. My wife loves the picture quality, Pandora music option.So much hi-tech information to absorb to join the mew HDMI world.

The Best Buy salesperson talked me into buying Plasma (Samsung 7000) initially, saying that the quality was higher and the price was lower. The Plasma did have its high points (rich colors and low cost) but I found that it was very dark and overall did not wow me so I returned it to purchase this Samsung UN60ES8000. This is by far the best TV ever with an amazing picture quality that simply blows away the Samsung 7000 (Plasma). Don't get me wrong, the 7000 plasma is very good, but the 8000 LED is spectacular. This is Samsung’s top of the line LED so it has all of the bells and whistles. I'm working my way through all of the bells and whistles and so far they all work extremely well (love the camera and skype).This is by far the most amazing TV I've ever owned or viewed. Thanks to the Best Buy Staff for the professional and courteous customer support. PS. After reading some of the expert reviews such as CNET), I was hesitant to buy this TV, but I believed what I saw in the store and not what I read online. Expert on-line reviews are definitely useful, but I believe those experts see from a different lens and hold these TVs to a higher standard. I'm not an expert, just a very satisfied customer.

    Posted by: from lake elsinore, ca on 03/06/2013Overall this is a great TV. The picture is amazing. I didn't think I would like the 3d, but if it's a movie that's made to be 3d, its pretty cool. The sound isn't great but good enough to get by. I would hook it up to a sound system. The motion control takes a little while to get used to but when you do , it's convenient for a lot of things. the voice control works well once you learn the commands. It's great for making calls on Skype. The only slight glitch is the motion control occasionally popping up when it wasn't given the command. This only happens if things are being moved around in front of the TV and is not a big deal to me.

    Posted by: from MD on 02/20/2013My experience with this Samsung confirms reliability issues flagged in other 1 star reviews, but I give this poor rating mostly for picture and apps. The first unit I bought Dec 30 started to display milky screen after 3 days. To get rid of that I had to turn off the TV and then turn it on. I exchanged it within the 30 day period rather than running the risk of more trouble down the road. The second unit works ok so far, since 28 of January. My big disappointment with the 8000 series LED Samsung though is its poor smart features, which make it way too expensive compared to alternatives (read CNet review for details). Voice, motion control and apps - other than Skype which allows a wide view - are practically useless, but cost a lot. Other devices such as Oppo blu ray or Apple TV have much better features and work faster and more reliably. Particularly weak is Samsung's wifi. I have about 20 mbps in the area where the TV stands and Skype, Netflix, VuDu do not perform well enough (slow, freeze, bad pic). My apple TV has no trouble pumping 1080 movies via wifi. Bottom line - Samsung apps need ethernet cable. The smart remote is similar to the apps, of little use. Of course, Samsung is not a software company, so one can't really expect good applications. However, my major disappointment is the picture. I compare it to my Pioneer Elite plasma purchased 10 years ago and the younger Samsung gets beaten by a wide margin. Black colors on Samsung are not nearly good enough and the picture, at least on the standard picture modes, does not look natural. Edges lit up brightly grey in a dark room even on backlit setting of 9 (recommended by some reviewers on the net). And no matter how I try to make the colors naturally warm, I can't achieve that. Overall, I have to agree with CNet review: this is an expensive unit where we pay for the things we really do not need, while there are cheaper units which produce better quality picture.

The ir blaster that connects to the tv via Bluetooth was a great added bonus. The 3d is awesome and the kids live it. It's lightweight gave me the ability to put it on a full motion arm so I can easily view it throughout my Florida room.

    Samsung refuses to replace non-working TV

    Posted by: from Manassas VA on 02/08/2013I purchased this Samsung UN60ES8000 60-Inch LED TV on 8/16/2012. This TV has been nothing but trouble. It has been repaired by Samsung 2 times for the exact same problem. Now it is doing it again. What happens is the TV starts flashing crazy patterns and then turns itself off and on nonstop until you unplug it. Now it is doing it again. Samsung has replaced the “board” in the TV each time. It works for a few days or weeks then it starts all over again. Now Samsung wants to use my living room floor as a TV repair shop again. This time they want to replace the TV’s LED main panel. Every time they need to repair it I have to pay someone to take it off the wall, Samsung “fixes it” and then I pay someone to put it back on my wall. It is, after all, a 60” TV. You can’t install it on a wall by yourself. I say Samsung “fixes it” because they keep replacing the same part of the TV. I have asked Samsung to replace the TV and they refuse. Needless to say I will never buy another Samsung product again.
