A: If you use the HDMI cable, it does it automatically. Also when you turn the player on, it automatically chooses the output. When you turn it off you have to go back and change the output for your TV viewing.

A: Historically, DVDs will display their picture at 480i/p. However, the DVD-C500 will take that 480i/p image and upconvert it to a 1080p image. -MrSamsung
