Wanted to use both MP3 features and WiFi. Not bad for audio listening but hate the WiFi function. Too hard to access WiFi sites. Keyboard too small tend to make a lot of typing errors. Will buy laptop for WiFi use instead.- Age Range : 45 and up

I have a boy and girl set of twins, and they both find it very entertaining. I got this product for them because they were always on my smart phone downloading different games to play, and for the music on my pandora. Now they have all the capibilities I have on my phone w/the exception on being able to make phone calls.- Age Range : 17 & under

A very good PMP4

Was looking for an MP3 player plus - for apps, games, podcasting, etc. All I knew was I didn't want an Apple product. Kept watching for an android version and finally Samsung released their versions. Debated between the 4 & 5 inch screen but was looking for something a bit more pocket friendly so I went with the 4". Very pleased that it's a larger screen than an Ipod touch. Reviews tended to be down on the sound quality but I didn't find any other alternatives. While I realize its not the ultimate in sound quality I'm more than happy with the external speakers. I can't always wear headphones so I use the speakers quite a bit. I think there is good volume range even when I keep the player in my shirt pocket. The music is clear and there is definition between highs & lows and music versus lyrics. When used for podcasts all dialog is easy to hear. The player is easy to use, set-up was quick and I was able to use it right away. I'm fairly good at figuring out things even though I'm not a huge tech guy. Downloaded the manual just in case. Synching music is easy, I just plug into the pc and link to windows media player where I have all my music. Originally tried their recommended synching software but found it a bit cumbersome and I hate the extra storage that those types of programs use up. I downloaded the podkicker app and that interface has been fine. Battery life is good unless you leave on a lot of applications. I haven't synched it to my email yet but it seems straightforward. Only been a month or so and I know I haven't used a lot of the capabilities but it does what I needed/wanted it to do. A good easy to use music/podcast player that can play games, store apps etc. and its not an apple product.- Age Range : 45 and up

Very Nice alternative to Apple's iTouch5
Posted by:

PLUS;
Processor is fast
The size of the screen is bigger than my iTouch screen without much larger in size than the iTouch.
There are plenty of accessories available on eBay including extra/spare batteries.at reasonable cost, so you can keep on playing.
The sound from the speakers is better than the iTouch.
You can expand this player up to 32GB micro sd card.
It has a nice FM built in radio, non-WiFi dependent, nice touch, that is not available on the Apple player.
CONS;
my only grip is this; my wife and I play Scrabble via WiFi.
This player has limited (free) version which requires that you sit through adds.
I would gladly pay for the same (paid) version that I have on my iTouch.
Note;
My wife has a Nook Tablet 16gb and it has unlimited (paid) Scrabble.
I have also have a Samsung Tablet WiFi 7" that only has the Facebook version of Scrabble available.- Age Range : 45 and up

I have always been an iPod fan, until I bought the Samsung Galaxy Player. I decided to buy this because I was sick of iTunes and the hassle it was to upload music. This player is AWESOME and the features are WONDERFUL!! It is so simple to upload music, pics, and apps. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a change from the iPod.- Age Range : 25-34

excellent replacement for my old zune5

This device lives up to its name. when my zune from 2007 was beginning to give up on me, i was being recommended to use my android phone(samsung gravity smart) as an mp3 player, i wasnt comfortable with it because everytime i use it for that it slows down production of my phone and the apps. thats when i saw the galaxy player. works similar to a galaxy phone except without the phone and it turned out better for me. the operating systems were about the same except galaxy uses 2.3 gingerbread whi gravity smart use 2.2 froyo. though most people prefer an all in one device, i like to have my mp3 player for,(Gps, web browser, camera and videos) seperate from my phone( for email, weather, sports and news) to expand the life of both of them so it wont be interupted by incomming calls. and besides, i can always tether my android phone to this device so i can have 4G on both anyway.- Age Range : 25-34

Excellent Player PLUS many other functions5

I bought this player as a replacement for a Palm PDA which is all but abandoned by Palm One. I was hoping that some of the apps would be developed for the Android market. One of the apps finally made it and this is one the main reasons for buying the Galaxy. But when I learned about the potential, I am amazed at all the functions that are available. I didn't need or want a "smart" phone. This player is what fits the bill for me without paying any more bills, like data fees, ect. Plus it is a terrific MP3 player. I could go on, but it would be repeating what so many people have said already.- Age Range : 45 and up

The sound quality is good, and the screen is crystal clear - video and photos look amazing (maybe better than my HDTV). It was easy to use and program, and love the capability to download apps from the Android store. The price was a bit high, but I think it will be a good investment over the long-term.
Great alternative for those of us who don't like Apple products.- Age Range : 25-34

I purchased this as a replacement for an aging iPod Touch 2nd gen (16gb). I have been using this mp3/media player for about 2 weeks now and am very glad I bought it. I found it easy to use and love the ability to swap out micro SD cards. I put in a 32 gb card and have a long way before I run out of space. It is easy to use, (totally compatible with Mac OS X Lion and Ubuntu Linux), very nice screen, and just fun. Also, I was very surprised to see the large selection of Android apps. The battery life is phenomenal, especially for audio. Another feature that I like is that the battery is replaceable. That was one feature of the iPod that has always bothered me.- Age Range : 45 and up

With a Wi-Fi connecrion this can do anything you want, even make calls via Skype. For heavy browsing and video, I mihgt consider the 5" version but this one hits the perfect spot, for me, combining usability and portability. I've seen nothing else to compare (and I used to have an Archos).- Age Range : 45 and up

Fundamentally Better than the ipod touch5
Posted by:
tdrocky95 from PA on

I'd say this player is my all time favorite:
Battery life: 36 hrs advertised, 6 more hours of audio than current ipod touch model
User replaceable battery: One of the best features, adds weight to the player, (which I like better), unlike the ipod that you have to buy special tools for or send it away, all you have to do is find a replacement battery and put the thing inside.
Bigger screen, but still manageable size, although IMO, the 5" model is too big.
Super bright LCD screen, at full brightness, it looks fantastic.
Camera: I don't take too many pictures, but from what I understand, its higher resolution than the ipod touch.
The software moves pretty smooth, but honestly, I'm not tech savvy, and I find the players functions easy to learn and use.
Music: I'm not super obsessed with adjusting the treble, bass, and whatever else. I find the sound quality to be very good, and clear. Although, I did change the ear pads with the smaller ones included and that made the sound much better, but that's a matter of preference.
Apps: Not as many as the ipod touch, but many many are free including the fan favorite, "Angry Birds".
Overall: A great player with many advantages over the competition. User friendly, smooth navigation and many more included features than the ipod touch. A def. Winner and I'm sure I'll get get use out of it.- Age Range : 18-24

Samsung Galaxy 4.0 Media Player5

This is a very good mp3 player from Samsung. I like it because it is easy to use on your PC. Just drag & drop music, pics, & videos in their proper folder & your ready to go. No iTunes. That's why I got rid of my iPod Touch 8gb. I also like it has an FM radio too. Wish it had HD Radio. Maybe the next genereation, Samsung Galaxy 6.0 HD Radio Included Player, Ha, ha,ha. Sounds great. It has great sound quality too. Way worth it...14 out of 16 found this review helpful.

Great product. Bought it for my girlfriend for her birthday. She needed a new MP3/media player, and I wasn't about to purchase an iPod or the like.
This this is exactly what I (and she) was hoping for. One thing I would like to figure out is if it's at all possible to use the GPS radio, despite not having a service provider for it.
Other than that, it works just like any other Android-powered device, and the display is excellent.
The only complaint I'd personally have is that it runs quite warm. Not hot, but warm. This may be due to the initial charge applied to the unit, followed by immediate and heavy use. Still a great product, it doesn't disappoint.- Age Range : 25-34

For me, this is an iTouch killer!5
Posted by:
chewdaddy from Virginia on

Our family has owned 3 iPod Touch players, including the latest generation so I'll try to add to the discussion by comparing to that. The latest touch is definitely sleeker and thinner, and has a slightly more color-popping screen, but for me this Samsung wins out on so many other fronts. Much of this has to do with freedom to do what I want w/ the device and use it as I normally want to. For those who are big Apple fans, it might be a tougher choice.
Here's the advantages for the Samsung:
1.) Expandable memory. I currently have a 16GB card in mine for a total of 24GB and it cost me $10, not $100!
2.) Don't have to use/sync to iTunes... Device becomes a USB drive when hooked up to the computer (if you want it to be.. you just touch a button to make it so). This means I can transfer files back and forth.. music, video... whatever I want. It's great.
3.) Flash. Yes, I know HTML5 will be the rage in several years... or decades, but in the meantime, I can surf the web as I do on my home computer. Dolphin browser can be set up to ID as a regular computer, not a mobile device, which opens up so much more content on the web. Freedom!
4.) Cameras seem to be better quality on the Samsung
5.) I love the back button... it's so intuitive. When I switch to the touch, i find it frustrating not having it.
6.) Micro usb. ahhh! I can plug it in to charge anytime anywhere where I have my phone chargers or even computer or camera cables. Love standardization!
7.) Swappable battery if you want to carry a spare
8.) Larger screen is really nice, even if it's not quite as eye-popping as the Apple. It's hard to tell in real applications.
9.) Android store has a lot of great apps not available in iTunes. It's that "freedom" thing again...
I ended up w/ the 4.0 and I've been happy with it. It's pocketable and it still is a great MP3 player. I use it jogging or at the gym on a normal basis, which I think I couldn't do with the 5.0. Accessing the MP3 controls from the home screen isn't as nice as the iTouch, but I can live with it.
The _one _bad thing about this, which I think is an Android issue... sometimes some app stays open and drains the battery. I'm sure that I can do some more research on this and eliminate it but I haven't taken the time to do that yet.
Hope that helps any fence-sitters, as I was a few months ago.- Age Range : 35-44

Pretty good for an MP34

I bought the MP3 when it had just came out and i had to pay about $220 for it. Had it for about 3-4 weeks. great back and front facing camera view. easy to use. downloaded many game apps then i realized that it started freezing up quite a lot. then i thought no big deal, probably because the memory was too full. so i deleted some apps but it was still froze a lot. so that was one problem. then i ended up returning it because $220 was too much for it then i decided to buy an iPod touch instead. otherwise, samsung galaxy player 4 is pretty good and it looks really nice. a lot of my friends were ever amused! they even thought it was a phone!7 out of 21 found this review helpful.
