Good camera for shooting the occasional video

Posted by: from St. Louis on 04/02/2012Using the touch screen is a bit tricky to get the page to move up or down, but hope over time it will get easier to do.

Great value if not willing to pay slightly more!

Posted by: from Erie, PA on 03/29/2012This camcorder is good if you don't mind it's focusing issues when zooming in and out. Otherwise I would go for a Canon or Sony Full HD camcorders, as they have better overall performance. They also cost nearly twice as much. This camcorder does not have that many features, but that makes it easier to use. It does come with a fairly smart AUTO mode that adjusts the settings for the conditions in which the video is being taken. Good value overall. First one I got, had DOA touch screen, that does not inspire any confidence in Samsung. Needs a longer lasting battery, like a lot of electronics nowadays.

This is a Great camcorder for the average user!

Posted by: from Mystic,CT on 02/22/2012The Q10 is easy to use light weight and a great purchase for the average user. The picture quality is good to very good but not excellent. The setup is very easy, I was shooting video within 5 minutes of opening the box. The zoom function can feel a little clumsy until you get used to it and there is a slight delay for recording to start when you push the button. Even with these minor problems, this camcorder is a Great value!

Interesting

Posted by: from Oklahoma on 02/15/2012I think it takes a good video and enjoyed it...at first. The problem is you can't get a charger for the odd sized battery locally. They even have to order the battery itself. i find that an inconvenience that I can't live with. Without a charger (can't even get a car charger locally) it's useless. I need something with the common parts more available. If you do too then this is not something you want. However, if you just shoot video from home or always carry everything with you everywhere and are not afraid of leaving a cord behind - you will like this camera.

Posted by: from Marysville, OH on 01/24/2012I purchased this camera before christmas because the price was right. You get what you pay for. The picture comes out very dark and grainy. There is no way it can be considered HD. I returned this camcorder and exchanged it for a Sony CX160. Much better.

Great little camera.

Posted by: from Evanston, IL on 01/16/2012We used it for the children's Christmas Eve Mass at my church. Our 3rd grade teacher who had never used a video camera shot all the footage of the children. Pictures and audio were great. I highly recommend this product for schools and churches. The fact that it uses and SD card saves me HOURS of time when making the DVDs for the archives.

Great First Time Camcorder

Posted by: from S A, TX on 01/09/2012I haven't yet had a chance to really get out there and shoot anything special but, just playing with it around the house I feel like the picture is pretty awesome. The still images are pretty good as well. It's easy to operate however, the image stabilization doesn't seem that great. The mic on it is in the front on the bottom of the housing under the lens and doesn't pickup the camera operators voice very good at all. I scored this for $179.00 @ Best Buy though and for that price it's a great little Full HD camcorder. I can't wait till it warms up and I can get out and record some footage at the local zoo or some family outings.

Better picture quality than I expected.

Posted by: from Ohio on 01/07/2012I bought this on Black Friday to replace my VHS-C dinosaur. When I received the camcorder, I was surprised by it's size (or lack of). This camcorder was the size of the battery of my old one! I love how light it is. I don't get tired while filming. This is being used for dance recitals, plays, etc...the typical mom stuff. The one negative I experienced was that the camcorder failed to power on about 50% of the time when opening it. I took the original to my local brick and mortar and exchanged it. Not sure what the problem was, as it checked fine for them. Could have just been the battery. Anyway, I had no trouble trading out the unit for another.

Very good camera for the money

Posted by: from Palm Springs, CA on 01/07/2012I have really enjoyed using this little camera. Have shot a few different types of things and found it easy to use with only minimal reading of the manual. I've never owned a video camera before. I love the flip screen that lets me put it on a tripod and see what it is recording while I am talking to the camera. Note that you do need the 6 speed or higher SDHC card and that is not clear until you really read the manual. I went out an bought any old 4Gb card and it wouldn't work right. Had to go buy another one. I wish it had a separate microphone feature because it seems like it is hard to hear the audio if you are very far away from it.

Not really HD
1
Posted by: from Syracuse, NY on 01/07/2012This camera works well under a number of conditions, but does not appear to produce real HD videos. The video have blocks in them as if it was reverse binned from a regular definition chip. Hence the only think you get is pixelated looking video files that are huge. I returned this camera.

Problem learning symbols

Posted by: from Cincinnati, OH on 11/26/2011I believe this camera is great for people who are used to using the symbols and touch-screen devices. However, for a electronics dinosaur like myself, I need a more detailed instruction sheet.

Posted by: from San Diego, CA on 11/24/2011Bought this at the last minute before leaving on a land/sea cruise in Europe since my JVC MiniDV cam croaked unexpectedly. Wanted these features but also a cheap price if it was stolen abroad. Needed to shoot movies and take GOOD quality pix on the run. This camera answered the mail. I could open it and start shooting within seconds. The autofocus was fine as I was shooting through a bus window and in varying depths, in daylight and nighttime. I shot in HD the whole time. The video files are large but I brought a laptop to back them up with a supplied USB cable. HINT: IT NEEDS A MEMORY CARD OUT OF THE BOX! I bought a PNY - 8GB SDHC Class 10 Memory Card and it worked fine and fast. Didn't have time to buy a 2nd battery but the original one lasted about 60 minutes of movie time. Battery charged quickly; transferred files safely. Very portable; hung it on a lanyard or put it in my pocket. The still photos (4.9M) were great. THe zoom was pretty steady and I used it often - the camera shake when zoomed in was minimized well. I had no problems with the touch screen. I love the Start/Stop button - didn't jerk the camera. Used Smart-Auto setting since I'm not a pro. The play/editing software for use on the PC seems fine - can convert to .WMV from .MP4. I have great movies/pictures of Rome, Ephesus, Athens, Olympia, Luxor and Cairo. I took a chance on this puppy and it performed!

Not what we expected

Posted by: from Victorville Ca on 11/17/2011Low battery life, screen blacks out. You don't know if it's working or not. We went to Washington DC, while at Arlington Cemetary during the changing of the guard, screen blacked out and display indicated we should check the lens cover, needless to say we didn't get the video.

Great little camcorder
4
Posted by: from Spanaway, WA on 10/23/2011I got this camcorder to record my family. It is compact and so easy to use. I can drop it in my purse and take it with me anytime. Recorded my daughters volleyball games great. Very easy to use. I enjoy the compact and ease of this camcorder and being able to use memory cards instead of having to pack tapes with you all the time. I have taken a couple of pictures just to see what it's like. Takes decent pictures, but I have a camera for taking picures so no big deal to me. I also got it at a great price. Bought it in the store, but my local store matched the price with the website. Battery life is good. Touch screen is great. I can pause and continue recording by using the screen. The only thing I have noticed is when you are recording on full hd and then try to watch it on the computer, the sound and movement of mouth are a little off. Only because I don't have an HD media player. (Am in the process of fixing that). The only other thing is with the media card, if you record in full HD you get less time to record than if it was on HD. Just like any type of tape before. I read many reviews on this camcorder and all the other HD's that were available at Best Buy and other stores. I feel that I made a very good decision. I am very happy with this camcorder.

Full 1080 HD on a budget price!! Super Deal!!

Posted by: from Greenville, NC on 10/02/2011I have had phones that recorded in HD, and I've had nice digital camcorders but this full HD handheld is where it's at. I personally endorse all Samsung products, form their phones, to laptops, to tablets, so this was an easy sale when it went on sale for $189!!! But seriously whats not to like about it when you upload a video to Facebook and watch it and you're like WOW, that came off of my camcorder!! I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter so this thing is so nice to capture every moment.
