Quickly up and running with no problem

Disk monitoring software expects cooler running, whereas this drive is designed to run at hotter temperatures so don't be surprised if your software gives you a warning. All is excellent except for this one caveat.

I ended up going back to software that I got with an older model drive? The drive itself is good

Excellent external for price and amount of storage

It looks good with all of my components and was very easy to install and use. The only downfall I can actually think of is the backup software that comes with the unit. It only allows the user to do a full system backup. It doesn't allow a user to drag and drop the important things to be backed up. I think this capability should be included without having to purchase the better software that allows for this capability.

It is highly rated on CNET and I was amazed to see it for 50% off. You just plug it in, follow the prompts and 10 minutes later it is happily backing everything up. Well worth it and very simple.

timeout is a pain

Posted by: Grumpy90 from Davenport FL on 04/05/2012I formatted it for a MAC exclusive use to try to get around the timeout which means I cannot share with the laptop. However, it still wants to time out and disconnect itself creating an error message for unexpected removal.

Great additional memory

It keeps my computer running at optimal speed without cluttering my internal Hard Drive. Everything that I have to load down to my computer goes directly to my external HD, unless my program is on my computer such as Adobe updates.
I would recommend this item to anyone that has insufficient memory on their computer.
