Posted by: Lspaul92 from Tannersville, Pa on 06/17/2013I bought this hard drive to clean install Win 7 on my computer. It replaced the original Barracuda SATA drive (also 500 GB) in my 2008 Gateway. That drive never gave me any problems ( I still use it if I need to run Vista for some reason). But putting these drives side by side, the new one is definitely quieter and runs much cooler to the touch. Maybe the coolness is due to Win 7 running more efficiently than Vista. I can't say for sure. But what I am sure about is that I'm happy with this HD and would get another.

Great 500 gb internal hard drive

Compared this hard drive to the Western Digital 500 gb and decided that the Seagate would be a better drive for the money and the quality of the product. Am happy with the purchase. So far, no problems.

saved my computer from dying old drive

Plug and Play installation - super easy

Posted by: hpdesktop from colorado springs, co on 06/10/2013The hard drive in my HP desktop (an a850y purchased in 2005) just died, so I chose to replace the HDD rather than get a new computer. I installed this HDD in about 10 minutes, powered up, dropped in my OS disc, and I was good to go in about 20 minutes. Significantly faster and quieter than my old 5400 RPM hard drive. Would recommend this to anyone who need to replace a desktop HDD.

Good replacement Hard Drive

After installing the drive, I turned on the computer and after booting up, the back up drive program took over and made a mirror image of my main drive. Now my PC is protected from a single hard drive crash one again!!

Nice hard drive

That told me that my hard drive wasn't the problem. When the computer does startup the drive works fine though. Its a quiet hard drive and I did increase the size from 320gb to 500gb. But I'll probably still have to buy another computer.
